Raising the style stakes with Target.

Spring racing is one of Australia's most momentous seasons during the fashion calendar, so I've teamed up with Target who have upped the style stakes this year, without breaking the bank. In recent years, Target has really proved itself in the fashion department with numerous powerhouse designer collaborations, including Proenza Schouler, Phillip Lim and Missoni to name but a few, but also with their own labels and designs.

Styling the perfect look for spring racing isn't always as easy as the A-listers make it seem, but I always make sure that my outfit is both elegant and graceful, with an injection of my own style and personality. It's important to have fun with your look, but always in mind the carnival's distinguished and conservative traditions; by now we've all heard that the bare midriff has been dubbed a big no-no this Melbourne Cup Day.

For my spring racing look with Target, I decided to pay homage to two of their three key themes for the season, floral and monochrome (the third being classic lace). While you know I have a soft spot for monochrome, it was the structured vertical panelling of this strapless dress that caught my attention, which is cleverly curved at the top. With my shoulders bare, this dress perfectly balances it out with an on-trend midi length.

While heels are a must for spring racing, do yourself a favour and invest in a comfy block heel or wedge, especially if you may have to venture out onto the grass, where stilettos are not, I repeat not, your friend. And, of course, no racing outfit is complete without headwear, to which I'm clearly a sucker for netting. Add a clutch and some paired back jewellery to complete your perfect (and affordable!) spring racing look.
