Expecting nothing but brilliance from one of Bali's finest private residence on the island's prestigious Millionaire Mile, we were not disappointed when the double doors opened up to reveal a floor-to-ceiling glassed interior with views of the picturesque lounging deck and sweeping infinity pool. There was no doubt that we wished to skip the welcome drinks and jump straight into the pool, fully clothed. As it tends to go, we decided to be responsible bloggers and 'work' first, laze second. And so, after sipping on our fruity mocktails, we set out to explore the many luxurious rooms and suites of The Shanti Residence.

Having completed my research prior to our arrival (I'm the Google queen), I already had my heart set on making The Master Suite our home away from home. Walking over a decked bridge under a canopy of greenery, with a large water feature to the left and stunning ocean views to the right, we were led to the double doors of the Ambhara suite by a very large, yet friendly lizard (I kid you not). The suite features a study and lounge, private sun deck, gazebo and yet another infinity pool overlooking the ocean. Alike with the other four suites, Ambhara, which means sky, also has a huge walk-in closet for your comprehensive travel wardrobe and a large indoor/outdoor bathroom with a jet bath and rain showers.

The main house presents a myriad of excuses to never leave The Residence during your stay, such as a home theatre, formal lounge and dining, each of which have impressive views of the outside deck and stunning main pool. Also featured is the impressive professional kitchen, where a team of skilled chefs can cater for anything you crave and desire, whether it be a three-course intimate dinner, canapés by the pool or for a party of up to 80 guests.

Of course, if you fancy something a little more leisurely, an in-house private spa is available on request; a connecting room from the gym. In the same villa complex, its path lined with another stately water feature, is the equally impressive Garden Suite, with its own private garden and plunge pool. A trip upstairs will take you to The Ocean Suites, both of which have balconies with impressive views of the stunning grounds and impending ocean, as the name suggests. The Junior Suite, just a short walk up the main path, features another private lounge, along with a gazebo and spa overlooking the entire grounds.

Needless to say, The Shanti Residence was created as the perfect location for family and friends alike to come together to celebrate in a true retreat from the outside world, to revitalise the body, mind and spirit. If you do want to explore the surrounding Nusa Dua area and beyond, with personal favourite temptations such as the St. Regis Sunday Brunch and TAPA Bistro just down the road, the chauffeur is at your disposal.
