Crown Metropol Perth: A Luxurious Greetings

Woah. Crown Metropol, you've just upped the standards in my little city and boy-oh-boy, am I excited.

________

They're the first thoughts that came to me as we approached the check-in desk at Perth's refurbished and newly luxurious Crown Metropol. In fact, I'm quite certain that Brad was thinking the exact same thing as we exchanged glances of astonishment. Were we still in Perth, or perhaps a much bigger, much more exciting international city? Needless to say, we were thrilled to be taking time out at home, without being at home (if that makes sense?).

Last month, it was decided that we'd use my birthday as an excuse to experience a night of indulgence at Crown Metropol, along with a confirmed booking at Nobu Perth; my favourite cuisine is, of course, Japanese. Before Crown Metropol became Crown Metropol, the complex and hotel was nothing more than lack lustre, but as we discovered, they didn't win the Best Hotel Renovation at the Asia Pacific Hotel Awards for nothing. Nothing was spared during the facelift, from the Casino to the mouthwatering array of international restaurants and bars, all of which stood shiny and proud.

After a breezy check-in and a surprise upgrade, we were escorted by another friendly staff member to our room via one of the impressive glass elevators, Willy Wonka style, giving us an exceptional view of the multi-panelled windows, white sails and the Atrium Restaurant below. When we arrive at the top floor, the open halls remind me somewhat of the exterior of the Titanic, which isn't a bad thing so long as it doesn't sink (highly unlikely, might I add). If we were indeed on the Titanic, then it's obvious that we're most certainly in first class as soon as we enter our Luxe King Spa Room, minus the Monet and elaborate decor.

A modern room, made only more distinctive and special by its sweeping view of the Swan River and city skyline. The fully refurbished guest room features everything you'd expect from a premier accommodation offering; plenty of space, high tech entertainment, plush furnishings and a large executive desk, which may or may not have been laden with a dozen fresh chocolate-dipped strawberries. And that wasn't the only surprise delivery during our short (but sweet) stay, with luxuriously boxed chocolates appearing in our room not once, but twice.

Of course, the chocolates were really just there to beckon us to enjoy the separate deep soaking spa bath, with a bottle of champagne no less. The rest of the bathroom is equally as impressive as it is spacious, made even more so with its illusion of mirrors. The luxe black and white surfaces, and glossy high-end fixtures are truly the icing on the cake of the whole renovation; an opulent transformation of the highest standard.

After roaming around the room taking a zillion photographs, I happily settled on the lounge to get my #fblogger on and upload a few images to Instagram (you can search it with the hashtag #litwonthego). And if that isn't enough, make sure to check back soon to experience more of the luxury of Crown Metropol.
