Summer Beauty: Bronzed and Sun Kissed Makeup

The complete step-by-step tutorial.

________

During the Lion in the Wild Summer Beauty series so far I've covered hair care and styling, my favourite self tanners and how to achieve glowing skin, so it's about time we moved onto makeup (the most fun, in my opinion!). Over the years, I've experimented with a whole bunch of different cosmetics that have worked and, well, failed. Come summertime, I'm always trying to perfect my best bronzed look, which can be tricky seeing as though I'm a fair redhead with freckles. I've decided to do a complete step-by-step tutorial on how to get that natural-looking, beachy bronzed look.

First things first, I prep the skin with the 1.  Stila One Step Correct Skin Tone Correcting and Brightening Serum, which also doubles as a primer. Then I apply the 2. Arbonne Sheer Finish Tinted Moisturiser SPF 15 in Medium Beige with either my fingers or a sponge. If I'm wearing quite a dark fake tan, I also mix in a tiny bit of the 3.  Clinique Even Better Foundation in 29 Latte.

If I have any blemishes, I cover them with the 4. MAC Select Cover-Up in NC20, which I've been using for years. I also blend it under my eyes in a triangle shape. Using the 5. Too Faced Powder Pouf Brush, I then press the Dim Light powder from the 6. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette all over my face, which gives it a flawless silk finish.

I then highlight and contour with the Incandescent Light and Radiant Light shades of the same palette with the same Too Faced brush, using my fingers to squeeze the bristles into a fan shape and again, pressing it into the skin. To achieve the deep bronzed look, I also use the same technique with the darker 7. Arbonne Bronzer.

As with any look, I always fill-in my brows, this time using the 8. Curtis Collection Brow Definer in Soft Taupe, which gives a really natural look. I then use the 9. Arbonne Eyebrow Gel to shape and define.

I use the 10. Urban Decay Naked 2 Eye Shadow Palette and 11. Kit Cosmetics Easy On The Eyes Kit brushes to create a metallic smokey eye. I apply the shade 'Foxy' all over the lids as a base with the All Over Eye Shadow Brush and 'Bootycall' with my finger to highlight just below my brows and the inner corners of my eyes. Using my finger again, I dab 'Suspect' on my lids and, with the Precision Angled Eye Shadow Brush, under my eye.

'Snakebite' is then applied to the outer corners and in the crease with the tapered blending brush. To finish this smokey eye, I dab 'Half Baked' on the inner third of the lid, adding a beautiful gold shimmer.

I only apply the 12. Stilla Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Intense Black in the top lash line, giving the appearance of thicker, darker lashes. I then use the 13.  Eye of Horus Goddess Pencil in Bronze Alumet to line the top lid, as well as underneath the outer third of lower lashes, using the attached smudging sponge to soften.

And, finally, I finish the eyes with the 14. Mecca Cosmetica Eye Lash Curler and a couple of lashings of the 15. Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara.

I add a little more dewiness to the cheekbones and Cupid's bow with the 16. Red Earth Secret Potion Illuminating Skin Fluid in 01 Pearl. Finally, I apply the 17. NARS Orgasm Powder to the apples of my cheeks.

Do you have any favourite bronzing makeup products, tips or tricks? I'd love to hear them!
