Amazing Animals and an Obsession with Tea
The weekly round-up.
________
It's the weekend, which means it's time to get down and dirty with this week's little doings and details (not very dirty at all, really).
1. We went to the zoo today to celebrate our dear friends' little boy's 1st birthday. It has been close on a decade since I last explored Perth Zoo and it has definitely got a lot bigger. I'm in two minds about zoo's in general; while I don't particularly agree with confining animals, mammals or any creature to such small areas in comparison to the freedom of those in the wild, I also understand the incredible research and work (and love) that goes into rescuing, researching and supporting so many in need. In saying that though, I'm definitely not somebody in the know in these fields (at all!), just a big animal lover.
Anyway, it was actually a really lovely day and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the orang-utans playing in their incredible enclosure, and the baby gibbon hanging onto it's mother as she swung and climbed. Plus, Perth Zoo has such stunning grounds in an epic South Perth location.
2. I've been drinking tea non-stop these last few days to hopefully ease this silly little cold I have after realising that I haven't been sick all winter (I definitely shouldn't have jinxed that one!). While I've taken a few of the Blackmores Cold Relief Bio C 1000mg that I got in this winter survival kit, my saving grace has been my Tetley's Green Tea with Ginger, and a huge box of tissues. There's nothing like a big mug of steaming hot tea to ease up congestion.
3. We got way too excited over white goods. Seriously though, it's ridiculously exciting to upgrade a few things in our kitchen. We actually haven't had a dishwasher since we moved into our new place a few months ago (has it really been that long?), so it's a humungous luxury. We also got a new microwave because our last one was a little bit dodgy (it made some really worrying noises), and a fridge with a big freezer compartment and water/ice dispenser. Unfortunately, the deliveryman couldn't fit in the door with the packaging on, so Brad and I ended up taking it off when we noticed lots of scratches on the front, which is a huge shame. They were really great about it though and are replacing it for us next week. Still excited!
4. The perfect face mask for winter. There's a thermal face mask that I have been using for quite some time now and this winter it has become my go-to mask (to the point where I actually convinced Brad to try it after a few beers - haha!). While it has been spotted on the @lioninthewild Instagram here and there, I haven't actually written about it here on the blog, so you can expect me to rave on and on about it next week.
5. Bubbles for days. I mentioned a couple of days ago that I hadn't yet had a chance to try the Lush Candy Mountain Bubble Bar. I ended having a pretty chilled out Friday and decided to soak in the bath for the second time this week (winning!). I only used the very tip of the Bubble Bar and it produced so many bubbles, plus the bath turned a wonderful pale pink. It was ridiculous(ly cool)! I have a feeling there will be a drastic surge of baths over the next few weeks, that's for sure.
I'd love to know all the exciting (and maybe not so exciting) things you got up to this week! <3
