How to Fake High Cheek Bones with Clinique
Daily contouring for somebody who doesn't like to contour.
________
The thing is, I didn't get my mum's cheekbones ( dammit), so enhancing what I was given has become a daily pursuit for me. While I usually use powder products, I was super excited to try the Clinique cream Chubby Sticks to highlight and contour my cheeky bones.
Check out my step-by-step guide below on how to use the Clinique Highlighting and Contouring Sculpting Chubby Sticks, and how to fake high cheek bones.
________
STEP-BY-STEP TUTORIAL:
STEP 1: Swipe the Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour in 01 Curvy Contour directly underneath the cheekbone. Yes, you're going to look absolutely ridiculous when you first do this, but don't let it put you off. I also like to put a tiny bit just above my temples and along my jawline, just to enhance and even out my complexion.
STEP 2: I then blend the cream in with the Real Techniques Buffing Brush. If you don't have a buffing brush, then you can also use your fingers. I love that once it's blended (effortlessly at that), it has a very subtle effect and doesn't look anywhere near as orange as it does when you first apply it. You can also build it up a little if you do want more definition.
STEP 3: It's time to highlight, which is definitely my favourite step. I'm going to use both of the Chubby Stick Highlighters, starting with the more subtle of the two, the 02 Super Starlight. I apply it straight from the Stick to the top of my cheekbones, below and above my brow bone, the tip of my nose and my cupid's bow. While you can use a brush (like the Real Techniques Contour Brush), I find the best way to blend is using a light dabbing motion with my fingers.
STEP 4: Since we're going for super high cheek bones, I also apply the Clinique Chubby Stick in 01 Hefty Highlight to the highest point of my cheekbones, as it's actually a lot lighter than the 02 Super Starlight shade. I'm going to finish the look by blending it slightly with my fingers again.
STEP 5: Finally, I'm applying the Clinique Sculptionary Cheek Contouring Palette in 03 Defining Roses to add some colour to the look with the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush.
And voila!
________
BEFORE AND AFTER:
I love how the contouring and highlighting has added some natural dimension and colour to my face (it's more noticeable in real life - thanks Mr. DSLR). What do you think? Is this something you do in your beauty routine as well? Would love to know your thoughts on contouring too!
