Lion in the Wild: The Must Read Posts of 2015
The very best of Lion in the Wild.
________
While we I shared with you my travels to Japan, Sydney (twice over) and Brisbane at the begging of the year, the latter half has seen the blog adapt to my growing love for all things beauty, and thus has become a daily beauty and style blog, with some added lifestyle and travel goodness in there for good measure. This week, as we look back at 2015, I wanted to countdown my favourite and the most popular posts, if not for myself, for both our new and long time readers. Stay tuned though, because next week I'll be sharing with you My 2016 Blog Resolutions.
________
10. My Monday Morning Routine - Earlier this year I teamed up with one of my all-time favourite haircare brands, VO5, to share with you My Monday Morning Routine, which usually means prepping for a busy week ahead, from refreshing my hair and beauty look to reply to emails and running errands. Oh, and snuggling with Indi the Fur, of course. Plus, there's a sneak peek at my walk-in wardrobe!
9. MBFWA Bluejuice Style - I went to my first ever Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia in April with Bluejuice, which was the most hectic trip I've ever been on. It was go-go-go from the moment I landed in Sydney, but it was worth all the craziness to see some truly magical fashion shows, catch up with my favourite creatives and surprisingly get snapped by the best of the best street style photographers (without me even knowing!).
8. How to Pack Your Suitcase for a Staycation - Having been the most visited blog post in 2015 thanks to a feature on Bloglovin, I just had to have this on my list. Packing a suitcase can be a the most frustrating task, especially when you combine the fact that you need to be under a certain weight limit and have little to no time to get your things in order, which is why I've shared with you my tips and tricks to packing like a pro.
7. The Basics, The Stripes and The Laser Cuts - This outfit post made the cut not just for the most fabulous and affordable cut-out lace-up heels, but also for the stunning photography that my mum was able to achieve, even in such harsh light. Plus, we had a whole heap of fun shooting it too.
6. The 5 Day MINKPINK Winter Outerwear Edit - During winter, I wore MINKPINK for 5 days straight to show you how flipping amazing their outerwear collection was during winter, and seriously fell straight back into love with the brand again. From anoraks and denim jackets to blazers and biker coats, I felt so inspired to embrace a (sunny) Perth winter again.
5. Blogging Hack: My Secret for Creating Flatlays - It was in 2015 that I decided to give in to all the blog advice requests I've had and share with you my blogging tips and tricks. As an art director, first and foremost, one of my favourite things to do is create the notorious flatlay, so I decided to spill all about how I do it, including special behind the scenes shots. Also, I'm quietly stoked about how my .GIF turned out.
4. The Tokyo Blizzard: Beauty in the Chaos - I had been holding off publishing this photo shoot for almost a year to announce that Brad and I were heading back to Japan again. Last year, we got caught up in the biggest blizzard Tokyo has had in decades, so we decided to do what any sane blogger would do and take a whole bunch of photos as I danced under the falling snow. It was such a beautiful moment and I'm so glad we have to photos so we can reminisce and experience the incredible beauty of a chaotic city standing still once again.
3. The 7 Day Makeup Challenge Round-Up - As my makeup collection grew, I decided it was time I took things into my own hand and finally opened the unused bits and pieces I haven't got around to trialling yet, which is how The 7 Day Makeup Challenge began. Each day for a whole week, I tested a new beauty product, shared my on-the-go thoughts on Instagram and then reviewed them to create one epic new makeup post. I had so much fun breaking out of my comfort zone and creating new looks, and I'll definitely be doing this again in the New Year!
2. How to Create an Editorial Calendar for Your Blog - I absolutely loved creating this post and then seeing it being shared and retweeted on social media. It was so rewarding to share my personal favourite blogging technique and read all of your amazing comments about who you organise your blog content, as well as how much the post helped you. I'm a big believer that we should all be supporting each other, so there will be more of this content coming to you next year too.
1. The Winter Wonderland - My favourite post of 2015 is, not surprisingly, The Winter Wonderland editorial, which we shot at luxurious private residence, The Glasshouse in Niseko, Hokkaido. It is the most special piece of work I think I've ever has the pleasure of producing, alongside Brad as the photographer, Shane as the assistant and support from Estée Lauder and The Luxe Nomad. I'll admit, even now as I look at the photographs again, I have goosebumps. I also created The Winter Wonderland Beauty Tutorial with Estée Lauder video too, for those that wanted to achieve this dark and sultry winter beauty look.
