My 2016 New Years Resolutions (That I'm Going to Keep!)

The cliché and predictable way to becoming a better you, puns and all.
________

On the first day of this year, 364 days ago, I spoke about My Thoughts on New Years Resolutions and why I think they're a positive thing, even if you think you'll probably fail. To give yourself a goal and then break them down into achievable dot points is a really great way to set yourself up for success, or at least part success. Even if you don't quite achieve what you wanted to, at least you gave it a go, right? I truly believe that there is only one way to be a better you; to simply try.

So, today I'm going to be sharing with you my very cliché and predictable ( hah-hah-hah) New Years Resolutions for 2016, starting tomorrow (or today - why not?). I feel like by putting my goals out there, it gives me even more reason to at least strive to achieve them, so that by December, I can cross them off my list.
________

1. A tidy home. I am a messy person, just ask my mum and dad. Throughout my childhood, I could never keep my bedroom tidy. On those rare occasions that I actually spent a whole day cleaning, my parents would always joke, "Oh, so there is still a floor there!". Hilarious. As it turns out though, there's not much more I enjoy than a tidy home. Now, don't get me wrong, I have improved tenfold since moving out and having my very own home, but I got a  ways to go-oh-oh (that's a Grouplove reference by the way, just incase).

Brad and I have decided that apart, we're actually quite tidy people, but together we're a mess waiting to happen. As busy people, when we get time together, we actually want to spend it together, not cleaning the house. He's my best mate, what can I say? I also find it difficult because I work from home, which means I spend the majority of my time completing tasks that are often messy. And while I do clean up after myself, sometimes I don't have the time to do it immediately, especially if I'm on a tight deadline. It's really all about time management and forcing yourself to get into a habit, both of which I'm slowly, but surely, getting better at with every passing month.
________

2. Cook more.  Isn't it terrible that my New Years Resolutions all seem to be pointing their way to me becoming a domestic goddess? The truth is though, I am quite the opposite. On most nights, Brad does the majority of the cooking (preparing the rice in the rice cooker has always been my job, which you'll know isn't really a job at all if you have a rice cooker) because I'm usually still working well up to dinnertime. In 2016 though, I want to be able to manage my time better and actually cook for Brad, because he's a damn good house hubby and I need to step up to the plate (pun intended). Despite popular belief, I'm a good cook, and I know how grateful Brad is every time I surprise him with a delicious homemade meal, so that's why this one is on the list.
________

3. Experience more. 2015 has been a very busy year and, quite frankly, a very challenging year as well, and I really let that get to me. I want to put myself out there in the New Year and simply experience more, whether it's eating at a new café or going on a spontaneous road trip, things that we didn't really do in the past year because we simply felt that we didn't have the time or the extra funds to do it (both of which were true). The year before was quite the opposite, as we travelled and experienced new places almost every month, so I want to reignite that flame, because it really doesn't have to cost anything to do something.
________

4. Exercise everyday. It doesn't have to be strenuous, but I want to at least do some sort of physical exercise everyday in 2016, whether it's going for a walk or run (to the beach, like today, as pictured), doing lunges and squats, or a 14-minute intense circuit training session. It's so important to stay physically active, especially now that I work in front of a computer most days, and I really want to make this a daily habit because I know how rewarding it will be (for the mind and body!). Oh, and I've got a workout buddy in Brad, so why not?
