This is How We're Doing Glitter This Christmas

White and gold glitter ombré nails.
________

I'm not really one to get into the whole dangling wreath light-up earrings or green and red glitter eyeshadow thing over the festive season. In fact, the only place I generally want glitter is on my Lush limited edition bath bombs, a stark contrast to the days where I thought sprinkling glitter through my bedroom carpet was a good idea (my parents still beg to differ). My brother even has a serious case of sparkalaphobia, which came about after mum put my glitter pants through the wash with his clothes as well. Needless to say, he still has nightmares over the years of sparkly clothes that followed. #SorryNotSorry.

This year though, I've decided to embrace the festivities as far as nail polish goes. When I opened a white rectangle box from The Nail Lab and discovered a Christmas celebration complete with green, red, white, clear and, yes, gold and silver glitter nail polishes, I knew that it was time to bring out the 6-year-old Kiara again and go glitter crazy. Well, in a more mature and wearable way, anyway. And, as it turns out, glitter nail polish make it way easier to create chic nail art, or at least my lazy and impatient type of nail art (because we all know nails are not my forte).

My favourite combination? The white nails and gold glitter polish. This look is ridiculously easy to achieve too, though we may want to leave plenty of drying time between coats. I applied a couple of layers of The Nail Lab polish in Gidget and then once it has dried perfectly, I swiped on one layer of Foxy, but just on the upper half of the nail. Then, I did two more thin layers with the gold glitter on the very tip of my finger nails to achieve that ombré effect. Finally, I finished it off by adding Protect, a perfectly named top coat to smooth out any lines. And voila! A glittery nail that even your sparkalaphobia brother can appreciate (or at least, not get nightmares from).

Now, while I have you, I'd love to read about your hilarious/traumatic glitter experiences! Make sure you comment below. x
