25 Random Facts About Me

Let's get to know each other better.
________

Just yesterday I published  My 2016 Blog Resolutions and Goals, one of which was to get personal and allow you guys to get to know me a little more. And so, I figured there was no better time than now to share with you a few very random things you may not yet know about me. After all, I thoroughly enjoy reading these types of posts about my favourite bloggers, so why not?

1. I still have a baby tooth. When I said 'random', I meant random.

2. I love watching movies over and over again. And TV series'. I could honestly watch my favourites a thousand times and still not get sick of them, although I'm almost always working or multitasking when they're on.

3. I was a gymnast as a child. I loved gymnastics until it got too competitive; just imagine having your coaches tell you that you must win when you're just 9-years-old! My favourite apparatus' was bars and beam. I can't even imagine having that kind of strength or balance now.

4. The Lord of the Rings is my favourite book and movie trilogy ever. I rarely enjoy a movie more than the original book, but The Lord of the Rings is an exception. And I've read the books twice!

5. I wear glasses. As it turns out, working in front of a computer everyday kind of sucks for your eyes and thus I've been wearing my super fab optical glasses for around one and a half years, after having 20/20 vision my whole life.

6. I'm petrified of dinosaurs. Ever since I watched the first Jurassic Park on VHS  way back in the day, I've been terrified of dinosaurs. And while the tyrannosaurus rex and velociraptor nightmares stopped years ago, I could think of not much worse than the resurgence of the dinosaur. Except maybe Alien.

7. Bon Iver is my favourite musician. I could listen to Justin Vernon's angelic voice and indie folk tunes for an age and some. There's something so pure and emotional about his music; it's genius, really.

8. I generally dislike mainstream music. Following on from my last fact, I haven't listened to mainstream radio for years and years, and to be honest, I cannot stand this new age 'dance' music popping up everywhere (though I also appreciate that we all have different taste, which is a good thing). Grungy rock, acoustic, indie and experimental genres have been my go-to for a long time.

9. My favourite cuisine is Japanese. Even thinking about eating a big steaming hot bowl of ramen makes my mouth water. Don't even get me started on gyoza or miso black cod (*drools*).
10. I'm a morning person. And a Monday person. Yeah, I'm one of those people. I just like the beginning of something, whether it's a day, a week or a project, because it represents possibility and opportunity to me. Plus, I struggle to stay up passed 10PM these days.

11. I'm a homebody. I adore exploring new places, but I love home even more. I didn't realise this until Brad and I spent a couple of months travelling through Canada a few years ago. It was the first time I had ever felt homesick, bought on no doubt by the lack of sunshine and consistently freezing temperatures (a stark contrast to the Aussie landscape!). No matter where I travel to now and the incredible things I experience, I just love that warm feeling of coming home.

12. I graduated 2nd top of my class at university. Don't ask me how.

13. I rarely wear earrings. Which reminds me, I really should put some in just incase the holes close - it's been a while!

14. I've been on a snowboarding trip every year for the past six years. Canada, Japan and New Zealand have been my go-to snowboarding destinations since I begun all those fateful years ago, and I have no doubt that we'll continue making those trips for years to come (the white, powdery slopes are Brad's very very happy place).

15. I enjoy organising things. Like, really really enjoy it. I've already bought a whole bunch of plastic tubs to organise all my makeup and skincare for the year ahead. Now to find the time...

16. My books are arranged in alphabetical order. Is that not normal?

17. I have a weakness for chocolate and potato chips. I'll devour a family block of Cadbury Black Forest chocolate and Red Rock Deli chips any day of the week. If only!

18. I don't like fresh tomato. But love sundries tomatoes, tomato soup and tomato sauce - anything tomato except a fresh tomato.

19. I have a dimple in my arm. I had an allergic reaction to a needle when I was a baby and it resulted in a dimple in the top my arm. Random, right?

20. I'm a good cook, but I don't like cooking. I've somehow created the impression that I suck at cooking, when in all reality, I can simmer up a mean thai green chicken curry and bake the most perfect chocolate lava cakes, all from scratch. I just don't particularly enjoy it. One of My New Years Resolutions is to cook more though, so Brad, you're in luck.

21. Brad and I have lived together for almost 4 years. And I haven't looked back since.

22. People think I'm prissy. Until they get to know me and discover I grew up as a skateboarding tomboy.

23. I've been skydiving. I jumped out of a plane over the Southern Alps, just outside of beautiful Queenstown, back when I was 20 and it was one of the most surreal moments of my life. It was so much more tranquil than I thought it would be and I couldn't recommend experiencing it at least once in your life.

24. I always get asked what colour I dye my hair.  But it's au naturale. No packet dye here ladies and gents!

25. Britney Spears' Baby One More Time was the first CD I ever bought. And I must've listened to it a zillion times over. Needless to say, my music taste has changed a fair bit since I was 9.

I'd love to get to know you more as well. If you've created a Random Facts blog post, link it below. If not though, tell me a random fact about yourself in the comments! x
