Red lipstick and red nails; two things I adore, yet somehow rarely don. And while it's the nude lip and white polish that dominate my beauty looks, I always find myself going back to the smouldering hue, no matter the occasion. Of course, with commercial romance in the air (you know, Hallmark's very own Valentine's Day), it's probably no surprise that I've chosen now to paint my nails a classic red. Plus, it kind of looks kick-ass with khaki and white, right?

First on my must-have red polishes is the  Clinique A Different Nail Enamel in Party Red, one that I've stocked up on numerous times - it's that good. Aside from the fact that the A Different Nail Enamel makes for an easy application (the brush is perfect) and lasts for ages, the deeper red is damn sexy and is a stunning nighttime red. And hey, since it's a tough one to chip, if it's on the next day then I most certainly won't be complaining. Red is for always, after all.

In the photo above, I'm actually wearing the  Maybelline Color Show 60 Seconds Nail Lacquer in Candy Apple, a lovely blue-based red that quite literally dries in just one minute, so it is a winner for those of us that are time poor and/or impatient (I think the latter is more me, to be honest, and that's a big call for someone who is ridiculously busy!). If deeper, cooler reds aren't your thing though, not to worry, because  The Nail Lab Nail Polish in  Brooke is my favourite yellow-based red polish. It's bright, vivacious and eye-catching, making it a lovely daytime red that will suit any occasion.
