6 Products I Use to Amp Up Voluminous Hair
Throw your hands in the air if you struggle to find oomph in hair.
________
[Throws hands in the air.] Okay, okay, fine. There is no oomph in hair,
but there can be, if you know where to look. I, for one, have long hair that naturally lacks much body despite being so thick. It just kind of 'hangs' there thanks to the weight long hair tends to have, so over the years I've tried a whole bunch of products to give it a healthy dose of volume I so desperately want.
It's strange to think that it wasn't that long ago that I refused to use any styling products in my hair. Simply put, I hated that feeling of it being heavy and greasy in which so many creams, gels and sprays resulted. Luckily for me, it only took using the
Toni&Guy Sea Salt Texturising Spray once to open my eyes to a whole array of seriously good hair products, including half a dozen volumising formulas that work an absolute treat to add some
oomph to my hair.
MY TOP 6 VOLUMISING HAIR PRODUCTS
I first dappled in the volumising game years ago with the
Schwarzkopf Instant Volume Powder, which I actually purchased over and over again (I'll admit, there's a couple in my 'empties' bin for a new video). More recently though, it's the
VO5 Give Me Texture Instant Oomph Powder that has been my go-to for super quick and easy on-the-go volume and texture. I sprinkle a small amount on my roots around my hairline and work it into the hair, but I also like rubbing the fine powder onto my fingers and using it to style the hair around my face. The best thing? This teeny tiny bottle lasts
forever.
Another that I've been using for quite some time is the
Toni & Guy Glamour 3D Volumiser, which is a liquid spray that I spritz throughout my hair after drying and before styling, from root to roughly where my hair hits my shoulders. Not only does it add volume and texture, but also a healthy shine, all of which will last until your next wash. Fact is, I love this product, and I have multiple spray bottles in back-up to prove it.
If it's a ridiculous amount of volume, body and thickness you're after, then there's no need to look further than
NAK. Now, it might seem strange and probably damn silly applying a thick blob of foam through your damp hair, but the
NAK Body N Shine Volumising Foam works magic on fine or flat hair. Allow to dry naturally or style however you please, this stuff is guaranteed to add life into your mane. And, if that still isn't enough, then disperse a little
NAK High Volume Texture Spray onto your roots for instant lift. Yes please!
And since I'm clearly addicted to anything that boasts volume, I couldn't not give special mentions to
Bed Head by TIGI that, I swear, have the most delicious scented products
ever. The
Bed Head by TIGI Small Talk Thickifier gives a nod to its packaging with a blueberry fragrance
[dribbles], as well as amplifying my hair. I like to spread it lightly through damp hair with my hands, from root to tip, and then blow-dry it without a brush. It's a great every-wash kind of product because it feels light and works well without styling.
Oh, and do you remember how I mentioned before that I can't stand heavy feeling products? Well, if you're anything like me in that regard then you'll adore the
Bed Head by TIGI Joyride Texturizing Powder Balm, which adds texture and the illusion of thick hair without the heaviness thanks to its balm to powder technology. It's super easy to work with and is the perfect accompaniment to the
Small Talk Thickifier.
So, now that you know what my favourite volume boosting hair products are, I'd love to know yours!
