4 Things On My 2016 Winter Bucket List
Making the most of the crisp, cold weather.
________
I'm the first to admit that the novelty of winter quickly fades on me, day after day of bitterly cold mornings and permanently frozen extremities. Don't get me wrong, there are lots of things I look forward to when the season finally begins, from leather boots and cosy layers to hot chocolates and steamy baths, but by the time August rolls around I'm always more than ready for warm sunshine and bare legs again. Who's with me?
Last year I shared with you
My 10 Favourite Things To Do in Winter, but for 2016 I wanted to create a bucket list to remind me to take advantage of the cool weather. After all, I'll be wanting winter back when the temperatures rise and we're in the thick of yet another heatwave.
The grass is always greener.
1. Go on a cosy winter escape.
I've been wanting to road trip down through the Australia's stunning South West again since we arrived home from our last weekend adventure to the picturesque and untouched town of Walpole.
While you can make the most of the pristine white beaches in summer, there's something truly romantic about drinking a glass of wine in front of a fireplace after a day of winery-hopping in the middle of winter. And so, going on a cosy winter escape is at the top of my bucket list this year.
2. Complete a 48-hour digital detox.
Ever since Estée Lalonde completed her 48-Hour Digital Detox, I've been wanting to do the challenge myself. In fact, it even made it onto my 30 Before 30 List and I'm determined to tick it off this winter.
My whole career as content producer, art director and photographer relies solely on the digital industry, which means my eyes are forever glued to a screen. So, I'm going to go a whole weekend without my gadgets as both an experiment (to see if I can actually do it!) and to live in the moment.
That means no phone, no television, no laptop, no social media; nothing except books and food and anything else we can do to keep ourselves sane. Wish me luck, I'm going to need it!
3. Do a winter wardrobe clear-out.
It's been on my to-do list for so long, but this winter I am finally going to get around to clearing out my wardrobe, to Brad's delight. I have come to the realisation that I simply have too many things and that it is time to part ways. It's the perfect way to create a curated closet.
I hereby pledge that come the end of August, my wardrobe is going to be 50% lighter. So, it's time to sell and donate, and I can't wait!
4. Enjoy a 'Top 50' movie marathon.
Also on my 30 Before 30 Bucket List, I want to watch all of IMDb's Top 50 movies and a chilly evening is the perfect excuse to tick a few more off the list. After all, is there a better way to relax than with butter popcorn, a mug of hot chocolate, a snuggly blanket and a good flick?
5. Go on long walk.
Despite the fact that it's winter, we enjoy a lot of sunshine in Perth, even in the middle of the year, which makes it a great time to get outside and get physical, as tempting as it is to stay rugged up inside.
I've wanted to do a long walk along the Swan River or Canning River for a while now, yet never get around to it, so this winter I'm going to make it my mission to get active and explore more of this beautiful city of ours. I have a feeling my frozen limbs will thank me for it.
I'm wearing: Cooper St coat, Black by Geng cropped jumper, Forever New jeans, black fedora, black bag and Billini lace-up flats (on sale!).
