4 Reasons You Should Invest in a Classic Timepiece
Reigniting my love for the timeless watch with CLUSE Watches.
________
I was just 17-years-old when I decided that watches would be my thing, even if it meant layby-ing the perfect piece and saving my hard-earned pennies, which I did, by the way. There was just something that I liked about wearing a watch everyday; something that made me feel kind of
special.
And while I've since grown out of wearing head-to-toe surf shop threads, that feeling continues to live on each day I clip on one of my favourite
CLUSE watches (one in
gold, one in
silver because I couldn't possibly choose!).
Just incase you're not yet convinced, today I wanted to share with you four reasons you should invest in a classic timepiece.
1. A watch is timeless.
There's a reason people spend thousands upon thousands on a single timepiece and that is because they're a lifelong investment. Heck, many become a family heirloom to be passed down from generation to generation. Of course, you don't actually have to spend a fortune.
I like a statement watch as much as anyone, but it's the classic pieces in my collection that get worn the most, year after year. I was drawn to
CLUSE Watches by their signature broad faces that boast a minimal design that will continue to be chic in years to come.
Truth be told, the
La Bohème style also played on a hint of nostalgia, with it's mesh straps that match the first watch I ever splurged on when my obsession began. And while the mesh is an eye-catching statement, it will no doubt continue to be a classic strap for many years to come.
2. They're understatedly stylish.
And really,
really easy to wear. There's nothing like a watch to complete the look of your outfit, whether you're going to work, enjoying brunch or out in town. A simple timepiece is effortless, yet always chic.
In a rush, yet your outfit needs a little
something-something? Simply chuck on your favourite classic watch and,
voila, you're done.
3. You will look professional.
Every time you put on a watch and step out the door, you're saying something and you probably don't know it. You're putting across to the masses that you're organised, trustworthy and that you always arrive 10-minutes early (I actually set my watches 10-minutes fast, just incase,
heh-heh-heh). Yeah, I'm
that person.
Needless to say, it should definitely be apart of your Monday-to-Friday uniform (and your weekend ensembles if it had anything to do with me), whether you are a creative freelancer or work in a corporate office. And don't even get me started on the power of wearing a watch to an interview. Oh, the things you can say without saying them as all. It's the small details that count, right?
4. A watch is practical.
As it turns out, there are other ways to tell the time without a phone. "
What is this crazy concept?"
, I hear you ask! A lost concept, apparently.
In all seriousness though, not only is it far easier to glance at your wrist for the time, but it's also far more convenient than struggling to find your phone when your hands are full or in your bottomless pit of a handbag (surely that's not just me?). There's nothing worse in this day and age than bringing out your phone in the middle of a conversation or when you're sitting down for a meal, so it's essential to wear a watch for the mere practicality of it.
You'll be surprised by how much you use it and how quickly it becomes a welcomed habit too. I find myself looking for the time on my wrist all the time, only to find that I'm staring aimlessly at a few freckles as I realise that I've forgotten to put it on. Freckles, not so practical.
