How to Toughen Up the Pink Trend

When feminine and edgy meet (just the way I like it!).

Never did I ever think I'd be 'into' pink again, let alone wearing it multiple times during the week by choice. The 13-year-old me would be proud. Oh yes, I went through quite a girly-girl stage in early high school, which was quite the contrast to the skateboarding tomboy I was throughout my childhood.

This time around, I like to think I've merged the best of both worlds. There's no doubting that my style celebrates femininity, but almost always with a nod to my boyish past. So, if you're loving the pink trend like I am, here are four ways to toughen it up (aka. avoid looking thirteen again).

1. Pair pink with leather or denim. My favourite way to toughen up the pink trend is by styling it with structured or worn fabrics like leather or denim (or both!). It doesn't get much more feminine than my floaty Glassons blouse, but by styling it with a cool biker jacket and a washed black denim skirt, I've effortlessly transformed the piece.

2. Style pink with neutral shades.  When it comes to pink, it's best to keep it simple and pair it with neutral shades like black, white and anything in-between. After all, you want the pink piece to be the statement, not competing and clashing with another different colour.

3. Wear pink oversized. Avoid anything body-con when it comes to pink if you'd prefer not to look too 'girly'. Whether it's a slouchy teecosy jumper or boyfriend coat, the pink trend undoubtably looks way cooler when worn oversized. Who's with me?!

4. Choose tough pink pieces. Two of the most edgy trends right now include bomber jackets and sneakers, so why not buy them in pink? I've had these pink Vans sneakers on my wish list all year, not to mention that I've hardly taken off this pink bomber jacket since I got my hands on it!

What's your favourite way to wear pink?
