My 3-Step Summer Tanning Routine

With my all-time favourite, Bondi Sands.

Alas, 'tis true, that lush tan I'm sporting is most definitely not real. There are a number of reasons I use a fake tan and I'm sure you've heard them all before; I'm pasty pale, I like to have that enviable summer glow and laying out in the sun for hours on end isn't exactly healthy, especially in our Australian heat. So, just a week away from the beginning of summer, I wanted to share with you my current routine for a flawless, natural-looking tan (every time!).

1. Scrub, scrub, scrub.

Ah yes, the often overlooked yet most important step in my tanning routine; exfoliating. Immediately before applying any tan, I always exfoliate my body from head to toe with my Bondi Sands Exfoliation Mitt. I'm not talking about a light handed scrub either. Using circular motions, I like to apply a lot of pressure to ensure I not only scrub off my existing tan, but also any dead skin cells.

I will often use a body exfoliant or body wash to assist as well, as it leaves my skin feeling smooth and soft, not red and raw after all that scrubbing.

2. Getting my glow on.

About 30-minutes after my shower when my skin has completely dried, I use a Mitt to apply the Bondi Sands Self Tanning Foam, my go-to tan for years and years. As it's warming up, I've been using the new Ultra Dark formula, which transforms my skin from translucent white to a glowing, deep tan.

3. Going the distance.

I only apply my tan once a week, if that, so it's really important that I moisturise throughout the week to ensure it goes the distance without going dry and patchy. While the Bondi Sands Gradual Tanning Milk has been an all-time favourite, I've actually been reaching for the Everyday Gradual Tanning Foam more times than not recently. It's so easy and quick to apply with the Mitt, and leaves my skin looking positively radiant, which is quite an achievement for somebody who has always struggled with dry skin.

I'm wearing: Staple the Label playsuit, Ray-Ban sunglasses, Lovers & Friends belt, Oroton bag, Senso sandals and Bondi Sands Ultra Dark Tanning Foam.
