A Weekend Escape in the South West
Relaxing at the luxurious Empire Retreat, Yallingup.
Imagine this. You wake-up to a soft warm light streaming in through the curtains, amongst the comfiest white linen after a much-need long sleep. That's right, a whole 10-hours of majestic, uninterrupted sleep. Impossible? It isn't here.
After slowly rising, you wander over to your own private balcony surrounded by the most luscious native Australian bushland, where you enjoy your first hot cuppa of the day. There's something so magical about listening to the early laughing of kookaburra's and soft swaying of the gumtrees. It feels like home.
Before long, it's time to make your way along a garden-lined timber boardwalk to the farmhouse dining room, where a delicious buffet breakfast of fresh, seasonal produce awaits you. Oh, and another delicious cappuccino, of course. Did I mention the incredible view through the dining room's impressive floor-to-ceiling windows? Well, it's the perfect setting to start a relaxing day ahead.
The rest of the day at Empire Retreat, set in the beautiful coastal South Western Australian town of Yallingup, could be spent doing a whole bunch of things or, if you want, simply nothing at all. If it's fresh air you need, stroll around the acreage of Empire Retreat where you'll discover lakes, a vineyard and more native bushland, or take a drive through the surrounding Margaret River region (winery and beach hopping is always on the agenda in this infamous region).
If you're like me though, chances are you'd just prefer to spend the weekend relaxing. Pour yourself a glass of local wine and run yourself a warm bubble bath, and laze the day away. Now tell me, how amazing does that sound?
Well, that pretty much sums up my perfect weekend getaway.
