The Instagram worthy spots you probably haven't heard of (yet!).

As a Perth local, I've visited the infamous Margaret River region more times than I can count. The turquoise water, white beaches, world class wineries and pristine countryside lures me in every single time. Put simply, it's beautiful.

And, if you haven't figured yet, it's one of the most 'Instagrammable' Aussie locations too. So, I'm sharing with you my favourite beautiful locations in the Margaret River region that only the locals know about.

1. Castle Rock Beach

Where the striking orange rock formations meet the calm turquoise water of Castle Rock Bay, to me it doesn't get more Australian than this (unless there was a kangaroo hopping down the beach, which wouldn't be unusual down here). Hike up Castle Rock for spectacular ocean views and then laze on the beach between dips in the cool ocean; now that's a picture perfect day!

2. Wilyabrup Sea Cliffs

It'd be easy to miss the Wilyabrup Cliffs, nestled somewhere between Gracetown and Injidup, but trust me when I say, it's an unmissable destination during your Margaret River adventures.

After a short drive and hike, you'll be thoroughly rewarded with one of the most stunning views in Western Australia overlooking the great Indian Ocean, as well as up and down this unique coastline.

3. Meelup Beach

I couldn't think of a better coastal spot to set-up a picnic than on the soft white sand of Meelup Beach. Conveniently down the road from Castle Bay, the pristine beach is flanked by native Australian bushland on one side and crystal clear water on the other.

4. Injidup Natural Spa

You know you're onto a good thing when you can't stop imagining yourself there on a warm summer's day, and that is exactly the case at the Injidup Natural Spa. Again, it can be a little difficult to find, but the walking, jumping and hopping from rock-to-rock is well worth the paradise that awaits.

More than just another pristine rock pool, when the waves hit the opposite wall of rock, the water sprays through, and creates a beautiful bubbling spa bath. Pick a spot on the rocks, lay out a towel, blow up an inflatable bed (optional, of course) and enjoy! Just beware of the strong currents - you're best off choosing a calm day for your own safety.

5. Empire Spa Retreat

Right in the middle of the action is the secluded and luxurious Empire Spa Retreat in Yallingup, which also just happens to be one of my favourite spots to stay. Amongst all the hiking and exploring, you're going to need a fabulous base to recuperate (and put up your Instagram photos from the day!) and the private suites at Empire Retreat couldn't be more perfect.
