5 Cosy Outfits I Wore in Chilly London
LOCATION: London, United Kingdom
PHOTOGRAPHY: Brad Jarman
Whenever I travel, I really feel like I can experiment with my personal style. I don’t know whether it’s due to the added confidence of being in a foreign country where no-one knows you or the fresh inspiration a city can summon, but I like it and I’m going with it.
My last blog post was a diary entry from our first morning in London and waking up to fresh snow. Needless to say, this only meant one thing; it was absolutely freezing during out time in the city. You should know, I wore a thermal layer under all of these outfits. I’m an Australian – I can’t take the cold!
Outfit #1: Plum Textures
On our first night in London our one and only universal power adapter died. I’d had it for over 5-years, so yeah, fair enough, but it left me with no way to charge our electronics and towel dried hair. You win some, you lose some. So, the next morning we caught the tube to Oxford Circus and scoured all the tech shops for an Australian compatible adapter, which isn’t an easy feet.
Rocking my favourite plum coloured Elka Collective combination, we made the most of the situation and explored the beautiful and bustling Piccadilly Circus. Oh, I could have done some serious damage to my credit card there!
And yes, we found UK and European power adapters, thank goodness.
I’m wearing:
Elka Collective knitted jumper and leather mini skirt, ASOS beret and tights, Acne Studios scarf, 3.1 Phillip Lim bag and Everlane patent oxford shoes.
Outfit #2: Royal Rocker
The next morning was by far the coldest we experienced during the entire trip. I was completely and utterly frozen, so much so that the only thing stopping us from developing hyperthermia was the multiple hot coffees we consumed on the way to and from Buckingham Palace. Trust me when I say, do not wear fingerless gloves on a minus-something day in London.
Since we were visiting the Queen, I thought I’d wear my London best; a rocker girl outfit complete with denim jacket, chunky boots and a baker boy cap. She wasn’t home, but I’m sure she would’ve approved.
I’m wearing:
Elwood denim jacket, Rails LA knitted jumper, Forever New jeans, ASOS baker boy cap and fingerless gloves, Status Anxiety bag and Andy Csinger x Walnut Melbourne boots from The Iconic.
Outfit #3: Layered Up
I wasn’t planning on wearing my trench coat during our trip, but the cold snap made it impossible to not wear. As the breeze rose, I made the right decision to layer the wind breaker over the chunky black and white knit, and my favourite blue denim boyfriend jeans (you can see them styled up here, here and here too) during our afternoon visit to Tower Bridge. And yes, the bridge is even more spectacular in real life.
I’m wearing:
Marks & Spencer trench coat, Willow & Paige knitted jumper, Abrand boyfriend jeans, ASOS baker boy cap and fingerless gloves, Oroton cross body bag, Andy Csinger x Walnut Melbourne boots from The Iconic and Smashbox lipstick in Bing.
Outfit #4: Oh-So-British
You can read all about this British outfit in my diary entry from our first morning exploring Westminster.
I’m wearing:
Marks & Spencer trench coat, Rebecca Minkoff knitted jumper (old – similar here), Glassons faux leather mini skirt, ASOS baker boy cap and tights, plaid scarf, CLUSE silver watch, 3.1 Phillip Lim bag and Andy Csinger x Walnut Melbourne boots from The Iconic.
Outfit #5: Pretty in Pink
One of my most popular outfits from London on the @lioninthewild Instagram (it has over 20,000 likes collectively!), I wore this denim, leather and pink combination to see the sight; Big Ben (though currently under construction), the London Eye and Westminster Abbey.
I’m actually kind of in-love with the pink sweater and its cute tie details on the side, which are hidden under my big cosy aviator jacket. Remind me to show you over the coming Australian winter!
I’m wearing:
Ruby Sees All aviator jacket (old – similar here) and leather pants (old – similar here), Elwood pink sweater and white shirt, Carries Beanies 4 Brain Cancer beanie, 3.1 Phillip Lim cross body bag and Rag & Bone leather espadrille sneakers (sold out – similar here).
