WHAT DO I DO?
It has come to my attention that some of you were wondering what I do for a living. A year after graduating from university with a Major in Creating Advertising Design (and deferring from Honours), I decided that it really was the fashion industry in which I wanted to immerse myself. Since my student days I have dipped my toes in visual merchandising and management, which only further cemented my dreams of a career in fashion. With a love for art directing and knack for idea generating, I realised that the only way to satisfy my ambition in a city where fashion is but a small fragment was to follow my own path and build something new. And so I find myself studying again, though on my own accord, and learning everything there is to know about how to run a small business, about sourcing, manufacturing and logistics, and everything else you can think of when it comes to fashion.
I always knew that the career I chose would be something I loved, something that excited me and motivates me. They say that you shouldn't start a business unless there is nothing else in the world you'd want to do, and while the years ahead will no doubt lack sleep, personal time and cash, I'm truly excited.
Working from home equals an unlimited supply of distractions and reasons not to work, so I'm currently investing in creating a fabulous office environment in which I'll want to spend my time. As a result I've gone a little crazy on Pinterest while sifting through design inspiration. I've already ordered a fabulous desk to accompany my spankin' new 27-inch iMac, which means as soon as it arrives I do believe a trip to Ikea is at hand, yes?
I know I haven't exactly specified what kind of fashion business I'm building, but I do believe there are enough hints in the above copy. For the moment, you'll just have to keep on guessing!
