How to go from Beach-Cool to Cafe-Chic with One Outfit

A style lesson with Target.

________

It was this morning, while taking photos with Brad at one of Perth's many pristine beaches, that I realised today is the last day of spring. Ahead is yet another dry Australian summer that will far exceed its three-month limit; otherwise known as the perfect excuse to spend as much time as possible enjoying our impeccable coastline, from the sandy beaches and cool water to the cafe-lined marinas and boardwalks.

With each passing summer, maintaining style from the beach to a chic cafe seems to become more important. Maybe it's Perth's growing cafe scene or perhaps I'm just getting older; either way, I believe I've got the answer. While cutoff denim shorts and a singlet have been my go-to's in the past, this summer for me is all about the dress. Now don't get me wrong, I'm still all about the trashed denim on a stinking 40+ degree day (yes, they happen here), but there's nothing more fresh and feminine than a summery dress.

Target have really been killing it lately with their on-trend fashion, so I really wasn't surprised to find this incredible printed dress. It's sleeveless shirt dress design, navy and white print, cool cotton fabric and at-the-knee length give it a coastal feel without losing sophistication; an effortless transition from beach-cool to cafe-chic. Did I mention the button-up collar is the perfect hide away for high-neck bikinis and swimsuits? Score. Styled with an eye-catching striped beach tote and lace-up sandals, this is most certainly an outfit I'll be revisiting over the next few months or so.
