Beauty Test: The Statement Purple Lip with Clinique

Never did I ever wear purple lipstick.

Well, until now that is. As it turns out, a purple lip is a pretty fabulous statement. It wasn't that long ago that I would have laughed if anyone ever told me that a bright purple lipstick could be anything other than ridiculous, yet somehow it has become a super chic and super wearable shade. What the?

Inspired by the new Clinique Pop Lip Colour and Primer shade Grape Pop, I was both excited and a little nervous before application. After all, I did't want to turn out looking like Barney the Dinosaur, you feel me? Luckily, the result was a silky smooth slightly pinky-purple lip that looked neither dinosaur-like nor ridiculous (in my humble opinion).

While it was only launched last month, the Clinique Pop Lip has gained a lot of hype throughout the blogosphere (I'm seriously addicted to beauty blogs right now!), so it was really great to try a product that lives up to its amazing reviews. When it comes to lipsticks, I look for a formula that applies effortlessly without any lumps or bumps, that doesn't dry out my lips and has staying power, all of which I can safely say that Clinique has mastered with their Pop Lip.

I'm actually not really surprised that I love this lipstick from Clinique, especially seeing as though I practically love every Clinique lip product I've ever tried. I'm definitely sold on their version of the purple lip, but I really want to get my hands on the more neutral Melon Pop and Cola Pop lipsticks too.
