3 Self Tans I've Been Using All Summer
A hot day, a white sandy beach and a golden (faux) tan.
________
On the eve of autumn, I figured it was about time I rounded-up my most used tans of the summer; also known as the ones that are just damn brilliant. I've tried and tested a dozen fake tan products over the years, and yet these are the ones I can't stop using right now. Don't get me wrong, ladies and gentlemen, you should embrace your natural paleness, but there's nothing like a hot day and a white sandy beach to make me want to glow golden and brown, in the least natural and most healthy way possible. So, here are the pros and cons of my three favourites.
The Perfect All-Rounder Tan
I'm going to start off with the most obvious, the Bondi Sands Self Tanning Foam in Dark, which has popped up numerous times on Lion in the Wild because, well, I simply adore the stuff. It's been amongst my favourite self tanners for years, as well as a constant travel companion. Aside from the fact that you can't beat the rich colour, this is probably the most long-lasting self tan I've ever used and it's affordable. The only con is that it does transfer a dark pink/orange stain onto clothing and bedding, but not after the excess has been washed off in a warm shower. Oh yes, I'm a big fan.
The Super Hydrating Tan
When I first apply a tan, I expect instant colour pay-off, which I actually didn't get with the Australis Rapid Tan Chocolate Mousse. In fact, I ended up applying two layers of the formula after the one provided just a slight golden brown, which then developed into the most natural coloured faux tan. It wasn't particularly dark or deep (I've heard the purple based alternative is great for those wanting something much darker), but the two layers I applied was more than enough for me. I also loved how it doesn't dry or irritate my skin like so many tans, thanks to ingredients like Vitamin E and Aloe Vera.
The Go-To Last Minute Tan
Surprisingly, my tan of choice this summer has actually been the new Rimmel London Sun Shimmer Self Tan Mousse in Medium Matte. Why? Well, aside from the deep colour, it dries within just minutes and doesn't transfer onto clothing or bedding - winning! The only minor concern I have with this particular tan is that it does tend to gather on dryer areas, such as the elbows and knuckles, so extra care does need to be taken when exfoliating and applying the foam. It's well worth spending the additional time on those small problem areas though because this is one beautiful, natural-looking, fast-drying tan, perfect for last minute applications. Let's be honest, we're not all super organised, huh?!
