The New Face Mask You Need to Try

A weekly pick-me-up for your face.

________

Woah, woah, woah. I haven't been testing new skincare this year as much as I usually would since my skin is finally calming down after years of hormonal breakouts (I've been keeping things super simple), but I'm glad I made an exception for the Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Masque. Woah, I'm impressed. I mean, if you want sparkly new skin, then you're going to want to try this one too.

One afternoon, I decided that my skin needed a little something-something after a week of minor hormonal breakouts (got to love it!), so I instantly reached for the newest mask in my collection by Dermalogica. Just so you know, my skin loves a good charcoal mask. The Sanctuary Deep Cleanse Thermal Detox Facial has been my go-to for years now, so I was ridiculously excited to get a moment to relax with a good book and pamper my lacklustre skin.

And so, I applied a generous layer of the grey mask to my t-zone and jawline, where I tend to get a few spots around that time of the month. Several pages and a mug of peppermint tea later, and my Charcoal Rescue Masque was almost completely dry on my face. While it suggests that you massage it into the skin with very wet hands for exfoliation prior to removal, I decided to skip this step since I've been using a chemical exfoliator (and didn't want to over do it). Instead, I simply pressed a warm, soaked towel onto my face and neck, and gently wiped away the product.

Looking up into the mirror, I was greeted with a slightly pink face - first application only - that was rid of all impurities (oh man, my pores haven't been that clean in a very long time!). Before long, my skin was back to its usual healthy colour that felt incredibly soft and smooth, without that uncomfortable dryness that some masks inflict. Fast forward a few days, and my face is positively glowing. Sure, I've still got a couple of spots, but they seem to be fading before my very eyes. Hurrah!

The best thing about this Masque is that not only does it work as a weekly pick-me-up for your skin, but also as a spot treatment for any blemishes that need to be put back in their place (aka. not on your face!). I have a feeling I'm going to be detoxifying and brightening my skin with this one after the Easter break, that's for sure.
