9 Ways to Get Motivated (When You're Not Feeling It)
The highly effective things I do to get myself going again.
I work from home and, most of the time, by my lonesome, which can be challenging at the best of times. While I love what I do, rarely a week goes by where I don't find myself blankly staring at my computer screen in the middle of the day without an ounce of motivation. Needless to say, it's not ideal when you have a ginormous to-do list.
Regardless of what you do or your working environment, we all go through motivational lulls, so today I'm sharing with you nine ways to get motivated when you're just not feeling it.
1. Try for another 15-minutes. Push yourself to work and keep on keepin' on.
2. Enjoy a coffee. Or any drinks that gives you an extra boost.
3. Visualise the outcome. Seriously, picture what it will look like when the task is finished. You might be surprised at how effective this can be.
4. Put on some happy music. And dance! Even if it's in your chair.
5. Go for a walk. Or a run. Exercise and fresh air are natural motivators.
6. Find inspiration. Flip through a magazine or visit your favourite blog.
7. Make yourself a healthy snack. Nuts, celery, carrots, chocolate. Whatever it is, it's important to nourish and reward yourself for your hard work.
8. Review your to-do list. Know exactly what you need to do and do it. Now!
9. Take time off. If all else fails, then chances are you're probably just plain burnt out. We work in a world where being busy is glamourised, but you know what? Taking a day off is far more glamourous (and great for your mind!).
