Chunky Knits and Ripped Denim in Tokyo

Falling head-over-heels - heart, soul and stomach.

The thing I'm going to miss the most about Tokyo, apart from the snow and the food (duh!), is the winter style. Don't get me wrong, I love a good old fashioned Aussie summer, but there's something I just love about chunky knits, warm layers and ankle boots. Who's with me?!

On our last day in Tokyo before flying out later that evening, we ventured out of our hotel in search of our last meal and a little retail therapy. It also just happened to be another unseasonably warm winters day, hitting a top of 10°C, so we happily packed away the thermals in favour of a couple of warm layers. Heck, I even got my legs out (well, my knees anyway).

Needless to say, I will no doubt be repeating this outfit again come June back home. The oversized knitted camel sweater (it also comes in burgundy and grey) has become one of my favourite ever winter staples, especially when unexpectedly layered over an old striped boyfriend shirt. Styled with a cross body bag for a little shape and a pair of go-to jeans, and you've got yourself an outfit worth repeating over and over and over again.

Outfit aside, it was truly the perfect final morning in this beautiful city; the sun was shining and the wind had taken the day off (thank goodness!). And while we've experienced warm days and, well, not-so-warm days in Tokyo (hint: blizzards), we always end up missing it dearly regardless of the weather and know we'll be back before we know it.

That's the thing about travel; discovering new destinations is always thrilling, but there's nothing quite like returning to a place that you fell head-over-heels for - heart, soul and stomach.
