How to Rock Sequins in the Daytime
A trend sure to catch the eye (without looking like a disco ball!).
Sequins have been on my style radar for quite some time now, but I wasn't confident enough to fully embrace them until Splendour in the Grass (where you can pretty much get away with wearing anything - or nothing). Then this week I had a strange desire to outfit repeat, and that is exactly what I did.
As it turns out, it is possible to rock sequins in the daytime and keep it low-key cool. Trust me when I say, sequins are back and today I'm sharing with you my top style tips to avoid looking like a lit-up Christmas tree.
1. Pair it with denim.
There's nothing more casual than denim, so pair your sparkling threads with a pair of boyfriend jeans or an oversized denim jacket. I can't stop wearing this pink denim number!
2. Add chunky leather.
Okay, so this is pretty much my philosophy for dressing in general, but tough leather offsets the glam of sequins. Whether it's a cool biker jacket or pair of lace-up combat boots, you're sure to make an edgy statement.
3. Keep a relaxed silhouette.
The more oversized, the better! Anything with a 'boyfriend' shape will immediately take your look from glitzy to cool.
4. Layer with a tee.
This super fabulous embellished starry camisole is high on my wish list, which would be perfectly styled over a classic white tee. Mixing sequins with wardrobe staples is the perfect casual offset.
5. Messy hair, don't care.
Keep your beauty look low key too with tumbled locks or a messy top knot. Remember, the less 'put together', the better, even if it did take you 30-minutes to perfect your hair bun (or maybe that's just me?).I'm wearing: Princess Polly denim jacket and sequin mesh dress, Fendi sunglasses, Status Anxiety bag and Windsor Smith combat boots.
