It was our second visit to Hakuba Valley in the Japanese Alps and we were just as excited as our first. Our mission? To enjoy some spring snowboarding, devour ramen and gyoza, and take lots of photos. We enjoyed warm and sunny bluebird days riding Happo-One, and freezing nights playing in the snowfall. Yeah, it was kinda’ perfect.

When I wasn’t donned in my snowboarding threads on the mountain with my favourite shredding buddy, I kept my style causal, comfy and cool. My mountain style has always included oversized hoodies (often stolen from Brad), skinny jeans and lace-up boots with plenty of grip, and this trip was no different.

Outfit #1: THE ULTIMATE SNOW JACKET

Being from Perth, you never think you’re actually going to get enough wear out of a snow jacket, but I have worn this oversized black number beyond count. I bought it in Montreal at a cool snowboard shop (it was pretty much heaven) in the middle of the city over five-years ago. A few sizes too big and complete with a zip-in fleece hoodie, it has been the perfect waterproof jacket for not just snowboarding, but exploring in the cold, the rain and the snow. Yep, it was a very smart purchase.

On our first evening in Hakuba, we decided to explore the snow covered surrounds, despite it taking us over 24-hours to reach the destination. We were exhausted, but it was so worth it (I mean, look at this amazing spot!). I kept dry and warm in my favourite waterproof jacket, a classic Adidas hoodie (on sale here!), the new Acne Studios beanie (in pink, of course) and my prized Timberland boots.

If you see my wearing this outfit on our next winter wonderland adventure, don’t be surprised. It’s a favourite.

Outfit #2: THE SOFTEST HOODIE EVER

A reoccurring theme, not just on this particular trip but throughout my wardrobe, is the appearance of Acne Studios. Splurging on big ticket designer pieces have been few and far between in my life (what a bad blogger! 🙊), but Acne Studios seems to be my weakness. While the Leather Moto Jacket is my prized possession, I’ve been wearing the Acne Studios pink oversized hoodie to death since I bought it (on sale, mind you). It’s the comfiest, softest and most luxurious fleece jumper I’ve ever had. Period.

Our charming snow lodge in Echoland (spot it in the background!), which we booked through my go-to The Luxe Nomad, was surrounded by a beautiful winter wonderland, so when the sun came out one evening we decided to go for a stroll. Of course, the snow was so deep after the winter that we kept falling through its knee deep depths, but it was worth it (and kind of hilarious watching Brad fall through 😂).

Afterwards, we scouted out the best Japanese restaurant in town (just a short walk from Villa Antelope) and enjoyed the most delicious sashimi and sushi I’ve ever had in my life. Luckily for me, my cosy hoodie kept me warm and hid my enlarged sushi-filled belly 🙈. Oh, the things I would do right now for that dinner again!

I’m wearing:

OUTFIT #3: THE COSY MORNING INSIDE

I’m an early riser. Yep, even on holiday. In saying that, I sure do enjoy the occasional lazy morning in bed and being snuggled up in our comfy bed at Villa Antelope was pretty much my idea of AM perfection.

Wearing a white shirt dress, a pair of knee-high socks and a cute beanie, I began my morning admiring the view from the bedroom and, eventually, one of the second-floor balconies. There was a fresh dusting of fluffy snow on the roof of the villa and the surrounding woods were transformed even more so into a dreamy winter wonderland. Bonus points to Brad for bracing the freezing cold and picking up a couple of takeaway coffees (they were so good, and yet another reason why I fell head-over-heels for Villa Antelope and its amazing location).

I’m wearing:

Oversized white shirt dress, Carrie’s Beanies 4 Brain Cancer beanie and cute bear socks (similar here).

Outfit #4: THE COLOURFUL KNIT

An outfit you’re no stranger to (it featured on my latest blog post talking all about my love for colourful striped knitwear), this is probably one of my favourites! I love how bright and playful it is, in stark contrast to the cold, overcast day that was. I styled the cute kitted jumper with the most flattering straight leg blue jeans by Abrand (they’re being worn as much as my go-to black skinny leg jeans – enough said), the $24 baker boy cap I pretty much wear everywhere, a pair of the best mittens and another everyday cross body bag. And a cup of coffee. I can’t forget the coffee, a crucial element to any outfit/day.

I’m wearing:

Stradivarius striped sweater (sold out – similar jumper here), Abrand jeans, ASOS cap and mittens (similar here), Status Anxiety bag and Windsor Smith combat boots.

Outfit #5: THE COMFY TRAVEL 'FIT

On our last morning in Hakuba, Brad and I left the inviting warmth of our villa to enjoy its pretty surrounds one more time. With a few hours of travel back to Tokyo ahead of us, comfort was most certainly a priority. I wore the Elka Collective wool hoodie (the quality is second to none) with a denim jacket, my favourite skinny jeans, a beanie and mittens. A special mention also goes out to my new Status Anxiety duffle bag, which is the perfect travel companion whether you’re on a plane, train or bus.

I’m wearing:

Guess denim jacket, Elka Collective knit hoodie, Acne Studios jeans and beanie, ASOS mittens (sold out – similar here), Status Anxiety travel duffle bag and Windsor Smith combat boots.
