Be Bold: Glam Makeup Look

Dramatic and sultry beauty with a little inspiration from Charlotte Tilbury.

I’ve been having a lot of fun with makeup lately, just for the sake of it. Testing new products, trying new looks and experimenting with application was something I used to do all the time, but as you get older you tend to find a daily beauty routine that works for you, your face shape and the amount of time you have, and there’s definitely nothing wrong with that. Guilty as charged over here! Now though, I’m ready to mix things up a bit.

I did just that recently and documented every step on the @lioninthewild Insta Stories (you can head to the ‘Beauty’ Highlight to see what went down), and I loved every moment of it. So much so that we ended up snapping these shots of the finished look and I couldn’t not share it here on LIONINTHEWILD.COM.

As I posed in our bedroom that afternoon, I felt like a completely different person; no longer a girl from the ‘burbs making her way in the world, but a glamourous starlet full of confidence and mystery. It must’ve been the lipstick.

Today I’m going to be sharing with you each of the products I used to create this bold makeup look for your next big night out (or simply ‘cause you’ve got a date with Netflix, not unlike myself this evening). Taking a peek at my beauty look, you probably won’t be surprised when I say I used almost solely Charlotte Tilbury products, who is the queen of glamour.

Shall we begin?

The Base

Starting with a cleansed and hydrated base is always essential before you begin any makeup look, so today I moisturised with Charlotte’s Magic Cream (the stuff is as good as they say!) and Magic Eye Rescue. After waiting 10-minutes or so to give my skin enough time to drink up the skincare, I then primed with the Charlotte Tilbury Brightening Youth Glow and Hollywood Flawless Filter to add extra glow to my high points. While these products alone create a healthy dewy base, as this is a glamourous look, I then applied the full coverage Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation and set it with a light dusting of the Genius Magic Powder.

After bronzing and lightly contouring with the Tarte Cosmetics Amazonian Clay Bronzer, it was time for my favourite part, highlighter and blush. I applied a mix of the dreamy original gold and rose gold shades from the Charlotte Tilbury Bar of Gold Palette to my high points including the tip of my nose, cupids bow and inner corner of my eyes.

No look is complete without blush, in my not-so expert opinion, so I went in with my new go-to Charlotte Tilbury Pretty Youth Glow Filter coral cream blush. It was the first time I’d used it and I was astonished by how it melted seamlessly into my skin.

The Eyes

After brushing my brows up with the Nude By Nature Precision Brow Mascara and priming my eyes with the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion (I use this stuff all the time), it’s time to have some fun.

The Charlotte Tilbury Stars in Your Eyes Palette really is something else with its 12 mesmerising eyeshadow shades that provides a perfect amount of colour pay-off with zero fallout! Did you hear me? ZERO FALLOUT, even with the glittery shades. Amazing. While I used the warm neutrals as my transition shades, I then packed on the rich amber and dark burgundy hues for added drama. The glitz and glamour is only amplified by pressing the glitter shadow all over the lid, one of the most stunning eye shades I’ve ever used.

The eye look is finished with a strong Tarte Tarteist Double Take Eyeliner feline flick and lashings of the Full Fat Lashes Mascara. K’pow!

The Lips

Charlotte Tilbury’s lipsticks have become a beauty bag staple of mine, so I couldn’t wait to try the new Superstar Lips with its glossy finish. I began this final step by lining my lips with the Lip Cheat Lip Liner Pencil in Savage Rose and then glided on the darkest, riches Superstar Lips shade, Confident Lips. Not only did it leave my lips looking super luscious, but also incredibly hydrated all night long. Yet another Charlotte Tilbury lipstick formula in which I’m obsessed.

I’m wearing:
Sequin mesh dress (old – similar here), black bodysuit, and APM Monaco earrings and necklace.
