THE MERMAID IN BLUE

Embracing your inner mermaid (minus the metallic tail) isn't as hard as you'd first predict. Although I must admit, we chose a hideously windy slash cold slash overcast day to do it. After all, wasn't the whole idea to capture the breathtakingly beautiful sunset that frequents regularly* on our stretch of western coastline? Nonetheless, I jumped in the water, drenched the tips of my hair in the ocean's salty goodness and climbed barefoot on the rocks, without a thought of how damn freezing it was. We can hardly blame fashion for releasing summer frocks in winter now can we? Perth, you're surprisingly late to the game this spring.

You can hardly deny that this Violet & I maxi dress was made for lazing ocean-side, though I wouldn't recommend rock climbing. Brad did indeed have to assist me down a number of times, as is the case so often when shooting.

Predictably, when we got the shots we needed and I converted back to the non-mermaid human me, I realised that not only was I cold, wet and covered in sand, but also that we'd failed to include a towel in our photo shoot kit. Hence I sat in the passenger side of my car on the short drive home in slight discomfort, though tickled pink with the outcome of the shoot as I briefly flicked through the digital photos on our Canon DSLR.

The slight discomfort I experienced as we drove the short distance home was soon put on the back burner as I briefly flicked through the digital photos on our Canon DSLR, absolutely tickled pink with the outcome.

*Like, erryday.
