THE BIRTHDAY POST
Seriously, how super quick is this year going? I find it hard to believe it is already November and more so my birthday. At this rate, Christmas and New Years will have come and gone before we know it! I must say, I really do think being 23 will be the best yet, though it has a lot to live up to.
I mentioned earlier that birthday's for me now are a great excuse to catch-up with those I love most (not that we need an excuse!). On Sunday, I went to Rocksgate Winery with my parents and Brad for wine and wood fire pizzas. When celebrating with my parents, top notch wine is almost always on the cards. I'm not a big drinker at all, but I must say I do enjoy a good glass of wine every once in a while (it's in my genes, I swear).
We started with a bottle of Rocksgate 2013 Verdelho and moved on to a 2009 Cabernet (which was going to accompany a dessert pizza), both very good bottles of wine. We were even lucky enough to have a sampling of Rocksgate's Dessert Shiraz, which was absolutely delicious. It always pays to have parents with friends that own a winery!
I've had their wood fire pizzas a few times if truth be told, which really says it all. They're simple, yet mouth-wateringly tasty, and cooked to absolute perfection. We had the Margarita, Potato and Gorgonzola Cheese, and Ground Beef and Pork pizzas. Rocksgate have only recently introduced their dessert pizzas, which we were all itching to try. Unfortunately I wasn't feeling very well (I've had something all week), so we had to skip dessert for bed instead, and I'm not one to ever skip dessert.
Thank you to my wonderful parents for taking me out for my birthday, and to Brenda and Trevor for having us once again!
