IZE Seminyak: Breakfast At Meja

There's nothing more promising than a full house.
________

When visiting unfamiliar countries and cities, mealtime can often be frustrating and confusing when searching for a quality restaurant or cafe. Needless to say, Brad and I have had many an average meal whilst travelling. Over the years however, we've realised that if our Lonely Planet Guide still won't help us decide, we'll get a table at the first full house eatery we come by. Or whoever serves dumplings. Either or.

On our first morning in Bali, we wandered down to Meja Restaurant conveniently located at our hotel, IZE Seminyak, donned in my favourite tartan two-piece set (which I snapped up for a ridiculous $59 here!) For 8:00AM, this quirky cafe was packed. With the tables on the deck all occupied, we settled down inside, but not before sussing out the Meja breakfast buffet, a feast for the eyes with an array of tropical fruits, freshly baked goods and salads. While the coffee didn't come close to the quality of an Aussie brew (in my humble opinion), the assortment of juices sure made up for it. Special compliments to the made-to-order omelettes, which were more than satisfying for the early bird riser.

Don't worry, I don't really think 8:00AM is early. Proof? I watched the sunrise this morning as I simultaneously typed away, got my caffeine fix and applied my Dior mascara before heading out (not a combination I'd recommend). Damn do I wish I was waking up at Meja!
