TAPA Bistro In Nuda Dua For Tapas
I have a love-love relationship with food,
especially when it is this damn delicious.
________
Stray just a little from downtown Nusa Dua and you'll be rewarded with The Balé's spankin' new exciting global restaurant, TAPA Bistro (for us, it was just a short walk from our luxe pavilion). Up a flight of stairs from the busy street, you'll discover the trendy open-air restaurant, complete with chill out tunes, and chic purple illuminations highlighting the bar, and the natural and white wooded interior.
TAPA offers a range of seating options, whether you want to sip a cocktail from the extensive beverage menu at the bar, enjoy a romantic dinner at an intimate candlelit table or sit back and relax in one of the comfy lounge chairs. We were greeted by the lovely Kiky, Lifestyle Retreats social media manager, who ushered us to a cosy lounge, as though she were reading our mind. At first glance of the menu, it's obvious that this is no typical Spanish tapas restaurant. Head Chef Benny Prayoga has expertly conjured a unique list of international dishes, inspired by delicacies from around the world.
The three of us take full advantage of the tapa-style dining and we soon discover one table alone couldn't possibly fit all the dishes we'd ordered (oops!). As we pull up another table, the various international aromas fill the air, and we're well and truly ready to begin our round-the-world culinary adventure. From Thai larb gai, Chinese har gow, Japanese tempura prawns and Middle Eastern hummus to Indonesian gado-gado, nasi-goreng and sate lilit, each dish is as tantalising and rich in flavour as the next. The bite-sized portions prove to be both fun and social, but by dessert, we find ourselves completely satisfied (and totally stuffed!). Chocolate ice-cream bonbons and a cheeky cocktail more than fulfils our need to indulge in the tempting dessert menu.
Needless to say, Brad and I both agree without hesitation that TAPA Bistro will be on the top of our culinary list the next time we find ourselves in Bali, and the sooner, the better. The taste buds want what the taste buds want.
A huge thank you to Kiky, TAPA and Lifestyle Retreats for having us!
