Summer Beauty: How to Get Glowing Skin
Because a summer tan isn't the same without radiant skin.
________
Cue the third part of the Lion in the Wild Summer Beauty series. Va-va-voom! I've spoken about how to get the perfect [fake] tan, but a luscious tan is nothing without beautiful, glowing skin. Achieving natural luminous skin doesn't come without a little dedication and time though, and yes, the right products for your skin. I've tried a zillion different products over the years and, to this day, I still rotate between brands. Today I'm going to share with you a few different products I'm rotating between on a weekly basis throughout summer to keep my skin radiant, including a whole bunch of amazing SPF creams and lotions (my fave!).
Body
After every shower, I [try to] apply a moisturising body cream, butter or lotion (yep, there is a difference between the three). One of my absolute favourites at the moment is the Coconut Revolution Coconut Body Butter. The fact that I've already used about two-thirds of the product says it all; I very rarely have any 'empties' in my beauty cupboard and I'll certainly be scraping every tiny bit from the bottom of the Body Butter. It's all about the coconut right now and Coconut Revolution have it down pat. Or should I say cold pressed? Either way, it smells and feels delicious and your skin will bask in its glory.
High on my list as well is the Grown Alchemist Body Cream and, if you're looking for something a little lighter, the Burt's Bees Body Lotion. I've also been applying the Milk Ultra Light Moisturiser after any extended time under the sun, as it is packed with your skin's best friends vitamin e, aloe vera and jojoba oil.
When it comes to glowing skin, the most important rule is protection. I cannot stress this enough. Neutrogena have a really great range of impressive sunscreen products that both feel and look great (not that that is the point of SPF, by all means). The Neutrogena Beach Defence Sunscreen SPF50 is a lightweight, fast absorbing and water resistant lotion, making it perfect for a day at the beach. If you'd prefer something a little more on-the-go, I swear by the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist Sunscreen Spray SPF50; a handbag must-have.
Eco Tan also make an interesting alternative with their Tinted Natural Coconut Sunscreen SPF30, which now also comes in an Untinted Sunscreen. I'd never used a Tinted Sunscreen previously, but my goodness, it is ah-mazing. Like a tinted moisturiser, it just smoothes skin tone like you wouldn't believe. Who doesn't want flawless skin?
Face
Holy wow, there are some incredible SPF for the face products on the market right now. Both the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Clear Face Sunscreen SPF30 and Neutrogena Oil-Free Facial Moisturiser SPF15 work wonders as a stand alone or under makeup. Both are oil-free, so no need to worry about super duper facial shininess (not to be mixed up with dewiness). Into The Gloss even named the Ultra Sheer Clear Face Sunscreen the best drugstore sunscreen. Enough said.
Otherwise, another option is the Dermalogica Solar Defense Booster SPF50, which again provides full SPF50 coverage by itself or mixed with your moisturiser and foundation. And, of course, we can't neglect the sensitive skin around our eyes, which is where the Dermalogica Total Eye Care SPF15 plays its part. Not only does it provide protection to such a delicate area, but it also helps to reduce puffiness and fine lines; a double wammy!
What are your go-to summer products for healthy and glowing skin? I'd love to know!
