Summer Beauty: The Perfect Pout

From balms, nudes and pinks to corals, oranges and bright reds,

these colours will get you through another hot summer.

Introducing the second last article of the Lion in the Wild Summer Beauty series; how to achieve the perfect pout, from my favourite ointments, balms, glosses, pencils and lipsticks. After all, a slick of your favourite colour is the most complimenting thing when you've got perfect bronzed makeup, [fake] tanned and glowing skin, and natural beachy hair.

The first step to the perfect pout is, yes, maintaining those soft and smooth lips of yours. I'm constantly challenged by dry, chapped lips, but these three balms that I can count on year-in, year-out. I actually got the 1. Lanolips 101 Ointment in Peach as a gift-with-purchase of a Vogue magazine. I didn't expect much of it, to be honest, but I sure am glad I tried it because Lanolips is ah-mazing! You won't regret this purchase.

Two others that I constantly use and keep my lips in tip-top shape include the 2. Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm, which is a natural peppermint balm and feels cooling on the lips (perfect for a hot summers day), and the 3. Grown Alchemist Lip Balm in Vanilla and Watermelon, which smells absolutely delicious.

If your lips still need a little nourishing when you're on-the-go, Burt's Bees also do a really great range of Tinted Lip Balms including my personal favourite, the 4. Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Pink Blossom. I've also included the 5. Mecca Cosmetica Lip de Luscious sheer orange/red balm, which I picked up in the limited edition Holiday Kisses Lip Trio.

When it comes to summer lip colours, I cannot go passed pink and orange hues. These warm colours just scream 'summer' to me. My favourite pinks this summer include the 6. Red Earth Pigment Rich Lipstick in 15 Sunset Pink, 7. Curtis Collection Lip Gloss in Stolen Kiss (oh yes, lip gloss is back in a big way!) and 8. Clinique Chubby Stick in 06 Woppin' Watermelon.

And if you're after a brighter pop of orange/red, the 9. Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in 04 Heftiest Hibiscus has become a favourite of mine. The 10. NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Iberico is for th girl that prefers her shades without the gloss. I also can't go passed a good nude, and really love the 8. NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Torres Del Paine; a very flattering coral nude colour.
