12 Hour Beautiful Colour with Elizabeth Arden

The matte lipstick (and foundation) that won't dry out your skin.

________

When a girl gets invited to spend time with Stephen Gaskett, the Elizabeth Arden National Makeup Artist, a girl does what she is told. And so, I found my lucky self in a chair at the beautiful Elizabeth Arden counter at David Jones on Hay Street earlier this year, where I was pampered by Stephen and their wonderful team. It didn't take long to realise that these guys not only knew their stuff, but were incredibly passionate about the Elizabeth Arden brand.

With my skin prepped with a whole bunch of their amazing skincare products, including the Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules Daily Youth Restoring Serum (that I've since been completely addicted to, but more on that later), Stephen proceeded to give me a flawless makeover, starting with the new Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Perfectly Satin 24 Hour Foundation (see photos), which I must say I was impressed with despite its matte formula. I usually stick with a dewy finish, especially seeing as though my skin is prone to dryness, but even after a full day of wear, it doesn't make my skin drier (yay!).

I'm sure you can imagine how excited I was to try their newly launched Beautiful Colour Moisturising Lipsticks in Matte as well, especially since the matte foundation applied so lovely. And you know what? I was not disappointed. With an intense colour and smooth application, these have become some of my favourite lipsticks in my vastly growing collection.

THE LIPSTICK SHADES:

Nude 43

Nudes are tricky. It's pretty damn tough trying to find the 'right' nude for your colouring; one that isn't too pale, too desaturated, too bluh. In this case though, I may have to go as far as saying that the Elizabeth Arden Nude 43 is the perfect nude. The thing I love the most about this lipstick, apart from the colour, is that it applies smooth and opaque, two things that tick all the boxes for me.

Coral Crush 42

I actually wore the Coral Crush 42 shade on day 3 of Australian Fashion Week back in April, which really says how much I adore it. It's one of those beautiful muted corals (aka. not fluorescent) that you could wear day-to-day, and for that reason, has to be my favourite colour of the collection (and I don't say that lightly!).

Bold Red 41

While I tend to go for yellow-based reds, this blue-based Bold Red 41 is still super flattering on my pale complexion. I have a zillion red lipsticks lying around, but it's the smooth and hydrating formula that really makes this one by Elizabeth Arden standout.

Raspberry 48

It was the Raspberry 48 shade that Stephen actually chose for me and I was so excited to wear a statement hot pink lip, as I'd usually go for something a little more neutral during the day. The lipstick wears brilliantly, and even after it has faded ever so slightly from eating and drinking, it looks like an amazing rich lip stain. I'm definitely not complaining about that!
