Beauty Test: Metallic Blue Eyes for Winter

Inspired by a shopping centre (the one and only, Karrinyup Shopping Centre, of course!).

________

It's hard to walk into Mecca Cosmetica at Karrinyup Shopping Centre without being inspired, and it's not just because the staff are super duper friendly, knowledgable and all kinds of wonderful (seriously though, those women know makeup!). With stand after stand, shelf after shelf, and display after display of perfectly merchandised high end beauty products, it's no wonder I walked away with a bag full of lust-worthy cosmetics.

This winter beauty look was initially inspired by the new Hourglass Modernist Eye Shadow Palette in Graphite. While I usually play safe with neutrals, it was the deep midnight blue shade that challenged me to create this look, a colour that is popping up everywhere this winter.

GET THE LOOK STEP-BY-STEP:

After primer, I apply the Ellis Faas Skin Veil Foundation for a fresh, illuminating finish that is light yet very buildable. As my skin is quite dry, especially during the wintertime, I prefer a dewy foundation that both hides imperfections and moisturises my skin.

I finish my base by highlighting and softly contouring with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette.

I then prime my eyelids before using the Hourglass Modernist Eye Shadow Palette in Graphite. I swipe the matte nude shadow over the entirety of the lid and apply the metallic silver to the inner corners.

The shimmering gold is then applied to the inner half of my top and bottom lids, while the midnight blue shade is applied to my outer halves and creases.

I put the dark chocolate eye shadow on the outer corners of my eyes with a slightly damp brush to intensify the colour. These eyeshadows are incredibly soft and luxurious, which means they're effortlessly blended.

To finish the shadow, I use my finger to tap on the gold shimmer again.

The By Terry Colour Eye Pencil in Voodoo Blue, which is a beautiful rich metallic (you wouldn't believe how incredible it is!), is swiped on the bottom lash line and a black liquid liner is used to fill in the top lash line. After layers of black mascara, the smokey blue eyes are complete.

And finally, the look wouldn't be complete without the Yves Saint Laurent Heart of Light Powder Blush and a swipe of the NARS Lipstick in Cruising. Viola!

What do you think of this look for winter? Would you try it?
