My 7 Favourite Everyday Eye Shadow Palettes

The neutral palettes I'm reaching for daily.

________

I was so excited to compile and write this article. Is that strange? I think it's because I just get so over-excited by eye shadow palettes. Surely I'm not the only one? There's something so thrilling about using a palette for the first time and creating a new look. Today, however, I want to share with you the palettes I'm constantly reaching for on a day-to-day basis, whether it's to create a natural 'no-makeup' look or a more sultry smokey eye. These are the palettes I will no doubt use until there's no more shadow left and re-purchase over and over again.

URBAN DECAY NAKED BASICS PALETTES

I have to start with the two most basic, yet amazing, eye shadow sets I've ever used (and still use all the time), the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palettes, which each have a mixture of buttery soft matte and satin shades. As you can see from the image above, I have used the original Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette to death and I'm not making my way through the newly released Naked Basics 2 Palette from Mecca. I spoke about how much I love both palettes in my latest YouTube video here. If you're trying to choose between the two, the original palette is slightly warmer than the cooler taupe tones of Basics 2, and the shades are also more contrasted in the original palette, so it really depends on your preferences.

URBAN DECAY NAKED 2 PALETTE

Can you tell I'm trying to get all the obvious palettes out of the way? The Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette is one of the most (if not the) cult beauty products ever, and there's a reason for it; it's flipping awesome. I won't go on and on about it too much as it has featured here a lot of the years, but this palette is just perfect for an everyday look, especially if you want to add a little more dimension with some of those gorgeous metallic shades.

DIOR EYE DESIGNER PALETTE & ESTEE LAUDER PURE COLOUR ENVY SCULPTING EYE SHADOW

If you're looking for a compact palette that's going to be great for travel, then the Dior Eye Designer Palette (it's a duty free purchase - surprise-surprise - but this palette is very similar too) is a wonderful option. Not only does it come with 3 easy-to-blend satin taupe/brown shades, it also comes with eyeliner and eyebrow gel/shadows (I say that because they feel like a mix between the two), as well as a mascara and brow brush (not shown above).

Another great compact palette is the Estée Lauder Pure Colour Envy Sculpting Eye Shadow in 01 Defiant Nude, which is great if you prefer warmer, yellow tones. I particularly like the shimmering gold tones as they look incredible when applied.
________

KAT VON D SHADE + LIGHT EYE CONTOUR PALETTE

Whether you like a neutral, cool or warm shadow, the Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette has it all (quite literally). This palette is particularly amazing because you can achieve so many different looks, and if you want to see each of them, check out this post here where I created each look and reviewed the palette.
________

SUGARBABY TICKET TO BEAUTY BEAUTIF-EYE NATURAL PALETTE

While most eye shadow palettes are pretty damn pricey (but totally worth it, in my opinion), I had to include the Sugar Baby Ticket to Beauty Beautif-Eye Natural Palette as it retails for just $19.95 AUD (bargain!). I was so surprised by the quality of the matte and shimmer shadows as well, and if you want to see them being applied, you can view it here. Each eye shadow is silky smooth, and easily layered and buildable, so much so that I still cannot believe it's value!
