The Concealers I Go Back to Time and Time Again

MAC, Rimmel, Urban Decay, Revlon and Elizabeth Arden all make the cut.

Concealers can be used a multitude of ways these days, with some specifically made for those tiresome under eye bags and others for those pesky blemishes. There are even those that are perfect for highlighting and generally brightening up the face. Truth be told, I don't think I could live* without my favourite concealers, but how do you choose the right one for you? I mean, there are some pretty terrible formulas on the market, so where should you splurge and where should you save? To help you out, here are my tried and tested concealers.

The concealer I've been the most loyal to over the years is the MAC Select Cover-Up, which I have repurchased again and again and again. You only need a tiny bit of the buildable, natural, matte cream applied with a concealer brush to cover-up a dark spot or blemish, and my goodness, does it last forever. Proof? This is just my 3rd tube in over 4 years, so it's definitely worth the splurge.

I use the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer and Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer from Mecca almost exclusively to highlight my face, especially underneath my eyes, as not only do I have them both in very pale shades, but also work an absolute treat (and they've got the hype to prove it). I also have the full-coverage Urban Decay Concealer in a slightly darker shade, Medium Light, which I use on any spots I might have when I'm wearing a tan.

While the Revlon PhotoReady Insta-Fix is a multi-use stick (it can also double up as a foundation), I use it as an on-the-go concealer. I find it to be a little too matte and drying when worn all over my face, as I do have quite dry skin, but this is the exact reason why it's so great to chuck in your handbag and touch up when you're out. Under your eyes, around your nose and on any annoying little blemishes that pop up during the day, the PhotoReady Insta-Fix mattifies any shine or oiliness with very little effort - a handbag must-have!

The latest addition to my concealer stash is the Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Lift and Firm Concealer. Having been a huge fan of the Elizabeth Arden Ceramide range (the Daily Youth Restoring Capsules are ah-mazing), I had big hopes for this one and I have not been disappointed yet. I haven't yet felt any of the 'lift and firm' effects yet, but hey, maybe that's because I don't need a whole lot of that quite yet (well, maybe in the morning when I've got creases in my face from my sheets - YOLO**).
