The First Week of an Exciting November

The weekly round-up.
________

The beginning of November, for me, marks my birthday and the start of my lengthy Christmas preparations, so while this week was busy as usual, I have a feeling it's only going to get even more crazy as the end of the year nears. Here are my top picks from this week!

25-years-young. As you know from yesterday's outfit post, yesterday was my quarter-of-a-century birthday. It was a super low-key day, as I didn't really feel like doing anything too crazy. In fact, we've had such a busy week that we ended up passing up on the birthday champagne last night for a movie, lots of water and, yes, donuts (nom-nom-nom). Ah, the life of an adult. A huge thank you to everyone one of you that wished me a happy birthday! You guys are absolutely amazing!

A late Halloween. I mentioned briefly on Twitter last week that I don't celebrate Halloween. Growing up in Australia, sans social media and its #Halloween hype, it was never a 'thing' for my family or friends. Don't get me wrong, if I was in the US for it, I would totally embrace the holiday (after all, the beauty of travelling is embracing other cultures), but I just could never get into it here, despite how popular it is becoming. One thing I could get into (and have) is the Glasshouse Limited Edition Halloween Candle (still available here!), which quite literally smells like a sweet, yet cosy pumpkin pie. Now to put it away for next years festivities, or not; it's a little too good to bring out just once a year.

Sephora.com.au. You heard me, Sephora has launched its Australian website this week, conveniently right before Christmas. It's been a long time coming, with the beauty haven bursting at the seams with Aussie customers all over the world for years, and more recently in Sydney. While we're not so lucky to have a giant Sephora store here in Perth, we can now shop their online store (yippee!). And I'm sure a Perth store is not too far away. Hint-hint, nudge-nudge.

My favourite shades from the Rimmel Nudes collection. This week I uploaded my very first lipstick swatches video on the Lion in the Wild YouTube channel, featuring the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Kate Moss Nudes. I decided very quickly that the pink-based nude, #042, and the dark, berry-hinted brown, #048, were my favourites. I mentioned in the video that I thought #045 would be the one I would fall head-over-heels for, but then wrote it off. Re-watching the video, however, I actually love the look of #045, so I'm definitely going to revisit it during the week to see if I can prove myself wrong.

Burning candles. I can't remember for the life of me which blog, but I read recently about the little things that can make your daily life feel a little more luxurious and special. The blog post spoke about the little things that can change our mood, including simply lighting a scented candle. That was when I realised I only light a candle when I'm taking a rare bath or at bedtime (when I remember), despite the fact that my house is littered with them. Since then, I've almost burnt through three miniature candles from Glasshouse and two Palm Beach Collection full size candles, which I actually have burning right now. It just makes me feel so relaxed, yet energised with a few pretty candles dancing in the distance, not to mention the soothing fragrance.

I'd love to hear about what you got up to during the first week of November! x
