Tried & Tested: 5 Dewy & Natural SPF Foundations

From the BB's and CC's to powders and tinted moisturisers, these five will have you covered.

When it comes to foundation, in the past I have been all about monogamy. I'd wear the same foundation everyday until I squeezed out the very last drop. I've never cheated on a foundation, until just recently. Now I have a good half dozen (and some!) in rotation at any one time. It's like all of a sudden I've realised that different formulas work for different situations. Sometimes I want a sheer wash of colour, other times I need something with a full coverage, but most of the time I reach for a foundation that will protect my skin.

So, I figured it was about time that I shared with you the foundations with SPF that have been saving my skin this summer, starting with a recent discovery, the Dr. Jart BB Radiance Beauty Balm SPF 30 from Sephora. First things first, can I just say how much I adore this packaging? It is a solid plastic tube with a pump that makes for an easy application. Applied effortlessly with a damp BeautyBlender, I feel like this gives a very natural coverage - you know, 'your skin, but better'. It's hydrating and dewy finish means that it is perfect for my dry skin on any day of the week.

Another light and dewy foundation is the IT Cosmetics CC+ Illumination SPF 50, which I'm actually wearing as we type, along with it's lovely counterpart, the IT Cosmetics CC+ Airbrush Perfecting Powder SPF 50. Now, when they say 'Illumination', they really mean illumination. Not only does this IT Cosmetics CC+ power couple provide the ultimate SPF 50 protection, but it honestly feels and looks au naturale, which is right up my alley.

I've spoken about the Jane Iredale Glow Time Full Coverage Mineral BB Cream SPF 25 previously in this First Impressions video, but I did want to mention it again as it has to be one of the most luminous foundations I've ever used. It creates this incredible 'lit from within' glow as soon as it is applied, despite the fact that it is a full coverage formula. The yellow-based shade BB6 is seamless with my faux tan too, making it a great option for summer days when I need a little extra cover.

And then, if all else fails, there is always the Clinique Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15, which you'd know I love from all the times I've raved on about here on Lion in the Wild. I wear it year round, as it has a healthy dose of SPF 15, but in the summer I also apply one of my favourite facial SPF's underneath. It's just the one tinted moisturiser I go back to time and time again (I've gone through several bottles!).

What is your favourite SPF foundation? I'd love to know your go-to!
