My Favourite Makeup for Hot Summer Days
The ones that stand the test of time (or at least a super hot day!).
________
The Clinique Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturiser SPF 15 has been a long time go-to base product, as I just adore the way it feels and looks on the skin. Not only does it provide sufficient, buildable coverage, but it also gives my skin this healthy dewiness that is perfect for summer. While it doesn't deliver quite enough protection for a day under the hot Aussie sunshine, it is a match made in heaven with the Dermalogica Solar Defense Booster SPF 50.
I always add depth and warmth to my face with a good bronzer, and it's the super affordable Sportsgirl Bronze Me Bronzing Powder that I've been reaching for lately. Not only do I dust it around my face and under my cheekbones, but also just a little across my nose and cheeks for a sun kissed complexion. Then I set my foundation with The Body Shop Loose Face Powder and a big fluffy powder brush, which is a must if you don't want it sweating off it blotchy patches (no thank you!). The Body Shop Powder not only sets my foundation in place for the day, but also adds a healthy luminosity to my skin.
When it comes to summer, I have a huge soft spot for cream based makeup. There's something about a creamy highlighter or blush that just looks so much more natural than a powder. I like to add a dewy finish to the top of my cheekbones, tip of my nose and cupid's bow with the Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight, one of My Favourite Makeup Discoveries of 2015. And since I can't get enough of the humble Chubby Stick, I add a flush of colour with the Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm. I love that you can either wear it super sheer or build it into something a little more saturated. Either way though, it looks very natural, like you've just gone for a vigorous I'm-taking-my-New-Years-Resolutions-seriously jog. No complaints here.
My look isn't complete without a swipe of sweet colour though, which is why I've been reaching for my tinted Burt's Bees Lip Balm's this summer. I've not been able to choose between the Burt's Bees Lip Crayon and Burt's Bees Hibiscus Tinted Lip Balm, so I have actually been layering both on; first the Lip Crayon and then the Lip Balm. I can never say no to extra hydration, especially when I'm spending far more time outside. Plus, the sheer, lightweight shades are universally flattering, wear well throughout the day and are super easy to apply on-the-go.
