Devastation, Expectations and Importance
The weekly round-up.
________
A summer at the beach. I spent this morning again at the beach with Brad and my dad. Surprise, surprise, eh? I feel like I've been at the beach a lot this summer; more than any before. Of course, that make sense since we now live just a hop, skip and jump away from the coast, but I still get the wave of happiness wash over me every time I'm walking on the warm white sand and looking out over the turquoise water.
Devastation in the South West. As you may or may not know, one of the most devastating bush fires has ripped through our South West this week (as will as several others scattered through Perth and WA). And while it's such a horrible natural disaster, I cant help but be so proud to be Australian during these moments of need; to see everyone come together as a community and support one another is such a beautiful thing to witness. I just pray that all those affected remain safe as the incredible firefighters and volunteers (and all those involved) continue to battle the out of control blazes, and are able to rebuild their lives, not to mention all the animals and wildlife.
What you can expect from Lion in the Wild in 2016. This week I wrote about all the new things you'll be seeing here on the Lion in the Wild blog this year, and to be quite frank with you, I'm feeling pretty damn excited. Don't forget, if there's something you'd like to see more of, you can still let us know in the comments below!
A resurgence of love for drugstore makeup. Towards the latter half of last year, I became intrigued once again with drugstore makeup, after a good couple of years splurging mainly on higher end cosmetics, and I was happily surprised by my discoveries. Maybelline was one of those brands that topped my list and this year I've been playing with their makeup a lot. I'm so impressed that I'm creating a one brand makeup look in collaboration with Maybelline, so keep an eye out for that!
The twice-a-year check-up. It's the first week of 2016, so it was time for me to get a pap smear. This isn't something that us ladies usually talk about (it's not particularly glamourous, is it?), but I feel it's important to remind each other every once in a while. After all, it's such a small little thing that is so damn important and we should be talking about it more. If you are due for one this year, make sure you write it in your shiny new diaries - that way you won't forget.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone! x
