Keeping Up Appearances: Golden Skin

My favourite gradual and wash-off tanning products.

Long gone are the days of slathering on a strong fake tan scented gradual tan (Johnson's Body Lotion, anyone?) only to reveal streaky, patchy skin (I'm talking circa 2005, FYI). Needless to say, as the sunless tan has become the trendiest of them all, the formulas have improved tenfold to the point where you can't distinguish between real and faux. My only qualm with the tan-in-a-bottle is that it fades far too quick. Can somebody please invent one that lasts a month, please? Until then though, I've got several quick and easy tricks to keep up my appearance of golden skin.

There's nothing I'd prefer to keep up my tan with than the Bondi Sands Everyday Gradual Tanning Milk. Over the summer I apply it once every couple of days to stop my fake tan from fading too quickly. It has to be one of the most popular gradual tans around and not just because it leaves skin looking perfectly golden sans streaks, but also due to it's nourishing properties like vitamin E, aloe vera and antioxidants. It also has a rich cocoa butter scent, so lather me up baby like I'm on a tropical island! Ha! I also really like the Mine Tan 3-in-1 Gradual Tan as another hydrating gradual tan with shea butter and aloe vera.

I always tan my face as well, however there's a couple of specific face tanning products that I've been loving. Not surprisingly, the Bondi Sands Everyday Face Gradual Tanning Milk has been apart of my beauty routine for over a year now (can you tell I'm a fan of the brand yet?). It's a lovely light facial moisturiser that I apply to my face and neck every morning when I'm faux tanned, as they're the places that typically fade the quickest. The organic and natural Eco Tan Face Tan Water also provides a stunning sun kissed glow, which I like to apply with a cotton pad (as opposed to my hands). It's one of those great products that is packed with a whole bunch of amazing ingredients to nourish, smooth and brighten your complexion.

Have you been a bit slack on the tanning front? Not to worry at all. The beauty shelf is littered with amazing wash-off instant tans these days so you'll never be caught unaware. My current favourite is the Garnier Ambre Solaire Natural Bronzer, which has a fairly thin consistency, a lovely scent and is very easy to blend into a smooth, natural looking deep tan in seconds. I've also been using the Sportsgirl Body Glow Bronze Instant Shimmering Crème and ModelCo Bronze Dry Touch Sunscreen SPF 50+ for a long time now, the latter being a superb option for sunshine filled days.
