6 Things You Need to Pack for a Summer Holiday
You won't want to leave these off your list.
________
Since we're heading to beautiful Bali soon, I thought I would share you the six things you need to pack for a summer holiday. Packing for hot and humid climates is surprisingly challenging, and it's super important that you have the right things with you to make sure your hard earned getaway is the best it can be (goodness knows, you probably deserve a break!).
1. Swimwear. Let's start off with the obvious, since you're most likely going to be spending most of your time on the beach or by the pool, lapping up the sunshine and sipping on a cold beverage. When it comes to swimwear, the best advice I could ever give is to make sure you pack pieces that make you feel confident and comfortable (two things you should definite feel on your holiday!), whether you prefer a slinky bikini or cover-up swimsuit.
2. Light clothing. The best thing you can do for yourself is to pack lots of breezy clothing options because, chances are, it's going to get stinking hot during your summer getaway. Do yourself a favour and pack lightweight pieces, like oversized shirts, shift dresses and loose-fitting playsuits (all on my to-pack list for Bali!). You'll thank yourself later, trust me.
3. Sunglasses. Sunshine and water makes for a perfect holiday setting, well, unless you've left your sunglasses at home. Protect your eyes from those dreamy rays (also known as the notoriously blinding glare) by taking at least a couple of pair of shades with you because 1. you might break or lose a pair, and 2. you'll look super stylish (just sayin').
4. Comfy shoes. Swap the stilettos for sandals, slides and, if you need the extra height (like mwah), wedges. You're on holiday and you deserve to be comfortable. Plus, heat and humidity can be pretty harsh on your feet (mine look like a pair of giant strawberries in the extreme heat, heh-heh-heh), so give them the break they've earned.
5. Headwear. And I'm not talking about headbands here, although also acceptable. I'm talking about fedoras and boaters and wide brimmed hats; the kind that look cool and keep your pretty face protected from the hot sun. Honestly, I think a stylish hat can really finish off an outfit too (proof in almost all of my outfit posts, ha-ha-ha).
6. Sunscreen. Last, but not least, is my number one summer holiday essential, the always heroic, sunscreen. Never assume there will be sunscreen at your destination either. I always pack my own because I know it's good quality and going to protect me from those nasty UV rays. Plus, there's nothing worse than oily, clogged-up skin when it's hot and humid.
