A Much-Needed Quiet Weekend Getaway
A road trip to paradise with Mazda.
Do you know that amazing feeling when you pull over on the side of the road after a long drive, only to discover the most incredible view of the ocean stretching over the horizon just outside your door? Yeah? Well, that pretty much sums up our weekend.
Last Friday, Brad and I woke early, jumped in our Mazda 3 and 'zoom-zoom'-ed down to Western Australia's stunning South West for a much-needed relaxing getaway. Just a few hour later, we were parked up at a lookout just off the main road with pies from the Margaret River bakery, enjoying the never-ending stretch of the Indian Ocean below us.
Our home for the weekend was a modern two-storey AirBNB home in Gracetown, with large windows that took advantage of the glimmering ocean views. We spent the next few days enjoying all that the Margaret River region is infamous for; surf, wine and food, all just a short drive from our abode.
Truth be told though, there was nothing quite like enjoying a cheeseboard or a baked delight on the comfy lounge in our AirBNB, admiring the ocean before us. Or perhaps from one of the deep soaking tubs (either way!).
This year has been one of the busiest and most challenging of my life, and while I'm beginning to understand the importance of balance in life, I know I have a lot to learn. A quite weekend away with Brad was exactly what I needed before the craziness of Christmas sets in, and I'm hoping that we'll get a chance to do this more often in 2017.
