The Balé Nusa Dua: The Luxury Villa Experience

If Bali is the Island of the Gods, then the gods more than likely reside inside the luxurious walls of The Balé.
________

Enter into the exclusive world of the uttermost luxury, confined within the bleached limestone walls of The Balé. Located on the hillside of Nusa Dua's fashionable and upmarket enclave, a member of The Small Luxury Hotels of the World awaits to redefine opulence. But beware, you'll never look at accommodation the same way again.

The Balé experience begins well before you reach the retreat. As we begin our journey from IZE Seminyak to The Balé with complimentary transfers, our friendly driver provides us with icy cold refreshment towels and chilled bottled water, which is much welcomed after baring the infamous Balinese humidity outside. On our way south, Brad and I snack on provided fresh fruit, cookies and crisps. Needless to say, we're impressed by the get go.

When we arrived, we were met by our butler and were led down a walkway fringed by a piped water feature, to the cool reception area. While our pavilion wasn't ready as we'd come early, we checked-in effortlessly and were provided with a number of attractive options to fill our time. We enjoyed refreshments in the library whilst watching Pharrel get his happy on, before being summoned to the spa for our 15-minute welcome massage. In our relaxed state, we decided there was no better way to wait for our pavilion than with a cocktail by the Upper Pool. No arguments there.

Before long, we were being escorted by our butler to our Deluxe Single Pavilion. I'm wide-eyed as the butler pushes open the tall wooden gate to our own private paradise, which leads to a floating stone path surrounded by water features and a trickling pond. The luxury instantly unfolds around us; the exterior features a bale bengong the size of a bedroom, two sunlounges on grass so lush that made Brad green with envy (he actively competes with out neighbours for the best lawn back home), and a pool fit for laps and bombies and skinny dipping, all at the same time (or whatever you young kids get up to these days).

The interior was on a whole 'nother level, with its minimalist and contemporary design. A king sized bed elevated on a stone platform dominates the overly spacious and airy pavilion, lined with windows flourishing with tropical greenery and views of our crisp turquoise pool. As we continue to explore, whilst sipping on a refreshing welcome drink, we discover a bathroom fit for a King (see what I did there?), but more on that later.

When our butler departs, we begin to dance like children in excitement and amazement. Heaven is a place on Earth. With lounge music playing and our luggage laid out on arrival, there was nothing to do but order food from the extensive menu and dive head first into the pool. From here on in, we spent our time indulging in every little detailed luxury provided at this stylish boutique retreat, from romantic candlelit dinners in the privacy of our pavilion to splurging on a worth-every-penny three-hour pamper package at The Spa. We took advantage of the round-the-clock, highly personalised butler service, often opting to enjoy the inclusive breakfast within our blissful pavilion. With fresh cookies daily and a complimentary minibar, this was my idea of relaxing, in absolute style.

For the majority of our stay, we were confined within the boundaries of The Balé, thanks to a blessing in disguise known as Nyepi Day (or Silent Day). It was the perfect excuse to hide out in our pavilion, deciding that there doesn't need to be a world outside the private and sophisticated retreat. Whilst peacefully isolated, connectivity was available around the clock with free WIFI, a necessity for a blogging social media addict.

After four blissful and highly indulgent nights, we reluctantly vacated The Balé with unrealistic and heightened expectations, in the best way possible.
