________
A labyrinth of bleached stone walls, lush tropical gardens and cool water features, The Balé is as monolithic as it is luxurious. After wandering the grounds and gardens of this impressive boutique retreat, we decided it deserved an article dedicated solely to its paradisiacal tranquility. Sharp, clean-cut lines are contrasted by the everlasting greenery, a combination unique to The Balé. It screams grandeur without completely rejecting the distinctive aesthetic of Bali, minus the excess. A true modernists utopia.
Dressed in a jungle-worthy 'Lion in the Wild' outfit of bright hues, tiger prints and leather (okay, maybe not the leather), Brad and I took the plunge to explore beyond the comfort of our Deluxe Pavilion. We were greeted by the friendly smiles of dedicated grounds staff, who seem to work around the clock to maintain this pristine and immaculate tropical wonderland. Its extensiveness enhances our feeling of seclusion and isolation, a pleasure after the hustle and bustle of trendy Seminyak. It truly felt as though we had the entire retreat to ourselves, sighting only a few other couples during our entire stay, all looking equally as relaxed and revitalised.
If not for the sweltering heat and the beckon of our private pool (ahem, and cocktails), we'd surely have stumbled upon every serene corner of the grounds and gardens of The Balé, though it surely would have taken a full day of surveying, sans heels and leather.
