90s Inspired Brown Lips: Yay or Nay?

Whether you like we or not, brown lips are happening.
________

It's a trend that has well and truly done the rounds on social media, but would it actually suit me, you know, in real life? Or would I perhaps just look like I had smeared melted chocolate onto my lips? Not that I would complain about having chocolate-y lips (nom nom nom).

I first delved into the world of brown lips with the Estée Lauder Pure Colour Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick in Baby Cashmere. I'll admit now that it's actually not that brown with a slight washed out berry hue, however, at the time, it was the brownest I'd tried. And I loved it. I then got a little more adventurous with the Clinique Chubby Stick Intense Moisturising Lip Colour in 01 Curviest Caramel, which is more of a nude-peach, but still has a brown tone to it, and we all know how much I adore that one. Then came the Arbonne Smoothed Over Lipstick in Terra and Glossed Over Lip Gloss in Hazel, both true browns.

So, am I into this brown lip trend? Let's just say that after applying the Arbonne lip products, I didn't need any more convincing. The Smoothed Over Lipstick quite literally snapped during application (a little more than annoying), but damn is it an amazing colour! I ended up squishing it back into it's place, twisting it down and continued smearing it on my lips because the formula is worth the messiness of the unfortunate situation. It has a very glossy finish, but I also layered on the Glossed Over Lip Gloss for that extra bit of shine.

What do you think of this brown colour? Is it a trend you'd wear?
