5 Mecca Cosmetica Products You Have to Try for Yourself

The store brand beauty brand you can't ignore.

I, for one, am most certainly guilty of overlooking store brand products, but there is one beauty brand that I just couldn't ignore. You probably know Mecca Cosmetica and Mecca Maxima for their luxe beauty heaven status, but what you might not know is that their own self-named beauty brand is pretty damn fabulous itself. Their Lip De-Luscious Balms have been a favourite of mine for years, so it was only natural that I eventually ended up falling for a whole bunch of their incredible products. Here are my top 5 Mecca Cosmetica products.

1. Lip De-Luscious Tinted Lip Protectant

First up is my long time love, the Lip De-Luscious Lip Protectant SPF50, which I have happily raved on about here on Lion in the Wild multiple times before. The Mecca Maxima staff (too easily) convinced me to add a limited edition trio of the Lip De-Luscious pots to my already overflowing hoard, after they swore by its moisturising benefits. Well, they weren't wrong.

Not only do they smell De-Luscious (see what I did there?), but the amazing ingredients keep my lips hydrated and chap-free. You will find me sporting the Mecca Cosmetica Tinted Lip De-Luscious with lipsticks for added comfort and shine, and without for a splash of sheer colour. And I type this as I smear on another layer (in Raspberry, by the way).

2. To Save Face SPF50+ Superscreen

I'm a year-round sunscreen kinda' gal, so it's really important that a facial SPF both protects my skin and looks good with or without makeup. It was hard to ignore the hype around the Mecca Cosmetica To Save Face Sunscreen, so when they launched the SPF50+ Superscreen, I knew I had to have it (the higher the SPF, the better, right?!).

The Superscreen has now earned a much-deserved permanent position in my beauty cupboard for a multitude of reasons. Sure, it's packed with luxe ingredients like hyaluronic acid and Vitamin E, among other amazing things, but what I really love is the way it feels. The To Save Face Superscreen is super hydrating, lightweight and non-greasy, making it a nurturing base that does everything I could possibly wish for in a facial sunscreen.

3. The Primer Wardrobe

Okay, okay, I'll admit that it was the über cool packaging that initially attracted me to The Primer Wardrobe, but as it turns out, it was only a sign of things to come. Open the lid and you'll discover a travel-sized trio of Mecca Cosmetica's favourite primers; the Fresh Faced Hydrating Primer, the Lit From Within Illuminating Primer and the Soft Focus Smoothing Primer.

There are three primers and three reasons why I love The Wardrobe:

1. Tester samples. If you're not sure what type of primer is best for you, then this is the perfect way to test them before splurging on the full-sized product.
2. Travel sized. Find it difficult to close your makeup bag when you're away? I've begun investing in mini-sized versions of my favourite beauty products. Not only does it make life so much easy, but also way cuter. Just sayin'.
3. Multi-prime. Multi-masking has been a huge trend for some time now, but I love multi-priming too. I like to use the Hydrating Primer on my cheeks and outer edges of my face, the Illuminating Primer on my cheekbones, tip of nose and cupids bow, and the Smoothing Primer on my t-zone. It's genius, really.

4. Mecca Cosmetica Enlightened Illuminating Balm

I love highlighting. In fact, I'm a self-confessed highlighter addict. There's nothing like a healthy glow and the Mecca Cosmetica Enlightened Illuminating Balm is my current daily go-to. Balms tend to look more dewy and natural compared to their powder counterparts too, and this one is no exception.

5. Mecca Cosmetica Sun Kissed Bronzing Primer

I've never really liked a Bronzing Primer before, but the Mecca Cosmetica version is by far the best I've ever used. It creates the most stunning sun-kissed glow that can be used under, over or mixed in with makeup, or by itself. Oh yes, it's going to be my go-to this summer!
